    Giardia - Help needed!

My dog had giardia aground the same age. It took a while to go and the vet did say it takes a few courses for it to be cured. Think it took 3 courses in the end.

    Help with attention seeking

Thanks - will see how things go. We live in a flat so no safe garden for zoomies (if only!)

    Basenji

Being a first time dog owner (not sure if you are first timers or not but..) I would wait until spring - its soo much easier to adapt to early mornings, walks, toilet training ect when the weather is nice out - makes the transition to long dark nights and cold wet dog walks so much easier -...

    Help with attention seeking

I have posted many times here and always seem to come across a resolution to each problem so here I am again. Freddie is now constantly asking for attention from my other half in particular - I work from home 4 out of 5 days and my other half goes out to work. It started about a month ago...

    What to do?

Hi. I am certainly no expert and know nothing about the working v pet dog scenario but….sounds similar to Freddie around the same age. I found things so easy right at the start as I was expecting it to be hard so was prepared. What I wasn’t prepared for was for it to be hard 5-6 months down the...

    Help with begging

Hi there. I wondered if someone could help me. My dog Freddie is now 3.5 years old. Nothing has changed in his routine but he has started begging for treats in the evening. We both work full time and like to just relax after evening walk and dinner. He used to just snuggle with us on the sofa...

    Bad wind

I will give it a go - thanks. I will say though they prior to these last few weeks he has slept through for a period of about 6 months solid without stirring.

    Bad wind

He is the same side of the gate as us and has access to us all night. The gate is just to block access to the hallway and front door. We don’t take him out now - we did for a few days but it was evident he didn’t need the toilet.

    Bad wind

He is not separated by the gate - we are in a small flat and the gate is just to stop him running out the front door when open. He has access to us all night but mainly chooses to sleep in his bed which is about 2 metres away from our bed.

    Bad wind

Freddie is still asking to go out every night - sometimes more than once. He taps on the baby gate as if he wants to go out then jumps on the bed and goes to sleep having woken us up - then back to his bed after about 15-20 mins - a few hours later it is repeated. Any advice would be welcome...

    Pulling on lead

Thanks. We leave his harness on so he can have his ‘free time’ on a longline at the park (working on recall) and also it’s handy as it has a handle so I can grab him in an emergency and for the car.

    Pulling on lead

Thank you. I was kind of hoping that once he had learnt some manners that it could be transferred to the harness. When he is in his ‘breaks’ he is in the harness and I have noticed he is walking better so fingers crossed! 🤞

    Pulling on lead

Sorry to hijack this post a bit but what are people’s thoughts on slip leads? My dog is 3 - has always pulled and I use a harness. I got a dog trainer who has told me to use a slip lead. I have been very hesitant about this and raised it with him and he said it’s only cruel and dangerous if you...

    Bad wind

ah sor Ah Sorry - I should have clarified - I was taking him out regardless but after we changed his food portion size the night time poos stopped and it was evident he was just asking because he could and didn't actually need the toilet. I will stick with it and hope for the best. thanks!

    Bad wind

I must admit I stopped taking him out as I didnt want him to get used to it and form a bad habit of asking each time. Do you think maybe I should take him out on the basis he realises there is nothing there to worry about and hope he gets bored? I was kind of hoping he would just stop asking...

    Bad wind

So the saga continues. The night-time poos have stopped. We reduced the daily amount very slightly and it seems to have done the trick. However, he is still getting up 2-3 times a night and tapping on the baby gate to be taken out. I soon realised he didnt need the toilet and i just try to...

    Bad wind

assume the nightime poos could just be a temporary side effect? its only be 2.5 weeks on the new food with no proper transitioning.

    Bad wind

fair enough! thanks. Will try and stay on the food and adjust timings - just cant deal with constant night time poos!
