Hi all
Leo is verrrrrry handsome. Continued grat luck with him.
This thread on naming of dogs is very intesting to me. The American Kennel Club has recently begun to allow new owners to change the name of their new purchase. Only IF the dog has never won any award at an AKC event. this has...
Thoroughly enjoyed these. Yes, please put more up. What fun sseing photos of some of the dogs we've only heard about. And sometimes photos of the famous ones that haven't been seen before.
Thanks for posting them.

Hi
If I may add a little hint here on flaky coats. Of course always rinse well, but a sparay of 1/2 water and 1/2 Listerine will help those white flakes in any color coat. Use the "real" original formula Listerine, not any of the generics.
It works

Thank you Cathie. I must admit that I am very surprised , at both the numbers of conditions and the fact that they are so widespread. I know I don't talk to everyone in the world, but I am in contact with alot of Whippet people here in the USA and have heard very little about immune related...
Hey Mark, I appreciate your response. I guess that what you're saying is the way people here in the USA used to feel and the way some still do. But , in this day and age ( of lawsuits over everything imaginable) most everyone in the USA offer guarantees against inherited problems. With alot...
Hi all
I guess I got an answer to my post about puppy guarantees. No answer. So may I assume from the lack of replies that no one has any opinion or that no one gives any guarantees ( or warranties) on health issues ?
So I will pose yet another topic ( or question). Cathie mentioned having...
Hi
I have a question for everyone. What do you as breeders do if a dog you have sold comes up with a serious health problem ? Do you offer a money back guarantee or do you offer to replace the dog ? Or do you offer nothing ? I am curious as this topic comes up often here in the USA. Some...
Hi all
Karen, your last post was absolutely terrific. An explanation and reasoning that all of us can understand without having to be geneticists ourselves. Thank you so much.
Carol
Hi again
I swear sometimes I am brain dead. It was Rimadyl of course that the dog with the immune problem was put on. Huge doses- everytime the owner called and said the dog was worse, the Vet upped the dosage. Until I screamed bloody murder. Owner didn't know- she was a fairly novice...
Hi again
I got to thinking after my last post and I have some things and a question to throw out here. The same dog that came up with PRA- I had stopped using this dog even before the PRA- thank God !! The reasons being several: All of a sudden I was getting cleft palates like mad ( never in...
Hi all
I cannot, of course reveal the name of the PRA affected dog on this public forum. Those who know me do know as I have been very forthcoming about it. Patsy knows about it as well. This dog was euthanized- not mainly because of the blindness which ensued but he also had a serious...
Hi
Sadly I know for a fact that PRA does exist in Whippets because I had a case. This dog was not an import but was of all modern English lines. I did not breed him. This dog was CERF'd at just under 2 years of age and was fine. At about 5 1/2 tragedy hit. I was faced with eliminating he...
Hi
Please excuse me for diverting from the topic, but I had a personal e-mail and I cannot reply to it. May be my computer, may be that I am a total computer dummy. Will the lady who wrote me privately please e-mail me at windsong@brier.net Thanks and again I apalogize.
Carol
Hi
Patsy, thanks for the kind words. Miss Naughty Dolly is a very special girl.
That head shot of Russell is just lovely !! The lovely soft expression that personifies the breed. He could win anywhere in the World in my opinion, the rest of him is as attractive as his head.
Carol
Hi
To reply to Nicky I'm afraid my answer isn't going to make alot of sense to some. I really do believe that the reason the USA standard was changed in regard to eye color was because someone on the standard committee insisted on it. I may get totally lambasted for saying these things but I...
Hi
Another voice from "across the pond". I've been following this topic with great interest as it has been fascinating.
Talking about heads in the USA vs England. I think we are having some serious problems with heads here recently. I am seeing more and more longer and what I call "snipy"...
