    play biting

Thank you! will look at that thread, and I get what you're saying there, distraction and another task may work better! he's got an extremely busy little head, I often feel he needs a' job!' have considered gun dog training, but not sure if I'd get laughed at turning up with a Field spaniel...

4 month old puppy won’t toilet outside

Hows it going? My puppy at 4 months didn't particularly like going for a wee outside on walks and would hold it in until he got back, which made for an unpleasant walk for him, then he'd have an accident in the house. For him it was about feeling secure I guess. Like someone else has said, I...

    play biting

I have a spaniel x pom rescue. Had him from 12 weeks. He's a sweetheart and loves everybody and everything. Housetrained, really now improving on not jumping up at folk etc, but still play bites occasionally. Its got significantly less but first thing in the morning when he's excited to see me...

I hear you. This is where we are. It’s very trying and very frustrating. I’m trying to be consistent and wait for it to pass. It will do eventually 👍

    Crufts

Flobo, That's how I came away feeling. I enjoyed the day but came away feeling it had all become very much about the money and looks. But then I am a right sucker for a rescue, so guess I'll always be that way!

    Teenage years!

Thanks JoanneF. Yes we are on a long line with harness. I will try hard now to be more engaging and try an alternative to the ball. My last dog was a nervous, pretty damaged Staffy bless his soul, who hated dogs running up to him and was quite reactive when scared, so I really don't want Teddy...

    Crufts

I went off Crufts after a visit a couple of years ago where I met a French bull dog breeder. Whole thing did not sit right with me at all. I enjoyed the police displays and service dogs demos though, and fly ball! so I watch a bit. I agree with your point on Frenchies.

    Teenage years!

Hi all. My 6 month spaniel cross is growing beautifully and we love him to bits. He is affectionate and loves all dogs and humans.... a bit too much. He's always been a dog lover, but since he hit his teens he is OBSESSED with other dogs. if we see one out he literally stops, stares, or sits...

    Puppy Biting

Bookworm55! I hear you!! our pup is now 5 months old and finally...its starting to stop, It's tough but just keep redirecting pup to the appropriate chew toys. its so tough at times and their teeth are so sharp at that age. I remember walking around the house in wellies one day! Its does pass...

    neutering

Hi . My adorable bundle of exhausting fun has to go to the vets to be castrated when he is 6 months old. I have to get him done as he is a rescue and of course, all reputable rescues stipulate this. He is only small, a cocker x pom so I've read early neutering at 6 months is ok. Just getting...

    Puppy encouragement!

Thanks so much ! Sounds like you have worked so hard for your pups. I agree entirely with all your comments. 1 size does not fit all. Teddy is very sociable and friendly. Like you said, I think 1-1 will benefit him far much more.

    Puppy class nightmare!

Thanks ! Nice to feel I’m not alone. He tired so quickly there. I brought him home last night and he instantly fell asleep in the back seat and took ages to calm down on return at home, peed in a corner too as so hyped. Not the way to go for us I don’t think. One on one I think. Puppy classes...

    Puppy class nightmare!

So, just wondering has anyone else struggled in puppy class? I’ve just finished week 2 of puppy class with my 17 week rescue puppy. He’s doing so well with his training at home. House trained, sitting, staying, gives a paw, loves meeting other dogs and people. Bit OTT though with his excitement...
