Totally. Iain was not only a shepherd but a very good 'dog man' who was kind but insisted on good manners. Jess and Iain were very close. She was his last dog and did everything with him and even slept with him.
The more I get to knpw her the more I lke her.
She is continuing to enjoy herslef...
I am really impressed with 'oldies' now. We r quite busy people and our lifestyle has changed. We used to live idylic country life and now we run a hotel and diner. When our first dog, Milo, died when Cody was only 6 months old it was very sad but there is no way we could have contemplated...
Yeah, am so glad we got her. I am not the sort of person who goes round rescuing animals - i generally consider that to be the place of people wealthier abd better with animals than me. The nearest i come to rescuing is chucking one can of every multipack of cat food i buy into the feline...
We took Jess in out of pity (her owner has now died) as when her owner became ill and she was passed from home to home and she ended up in the pound so we wnet to get her.
I was so prepared for months of difficulty, crating, keeping dogs seperate, worrying about her adjusting to family life and...
Just back from a beautiful walk in the sunshine and snow w boy and dogs. You guys were right about it being a case of the more the merrier when it comes to dogs.
No trouble at all taling two dogs. Jess came back when called (I dared to let her off lead)) the dogs played nicely together and...
Omg yes. And your hands small after you have stroked them. The smell of horse on ur hands is lovely but dog is more.. kind of sweaty? Zoe (my vain 15yo) kept stroking her, washing her hands then was unable to resist stroking her again and re-manking her hands.. Was v funny.
They have had their legs walked off them today. I haven't let her off the lead yet as I fear she may bolt for 'home' which is only a few streets away. When Cody was bouncing around in the snow she showed a definate interest in playing.
She is so obedient its unreal. Automatic response to...
Jess is here. :) had a looong walk in the snow with them both. All going fabby so far. She sells tho. Wet collie - bluegh. Whippets are 'low odour' so the smell of a real dog is a bit of a shock. We will get her bathed in couple days when her new microchip has settled down.
The only hoint of...
Yeah definately will :D
Turnms out she might be about 10yo. Is no problem but do u have any feeding tips to keep her fit and non-achey?
In some ways am pleased she is older as young collies have much more stamina than cody so am hoping that being 10yo she will be happy w 1 hour walks rather...
Yay! Phoned this a.m. And the guy who is in charge said they didn't need to do a home visit as he had checked. w the vet who sang our praises re being knowledgable, sensible and keeping all our animls in good condition. As the vet has been at the house he was able to say it was suitable, and...
Went for the interview and long story short the woman doesn't see a problem with us getting Jess but they have top do a home visit first. I should hear when today. Am hoping that they will want her in a home asap so will come very soon. Becuase we r just about to enter the dead season...
We might not get her after all. Becuase the people put her in the piound she is now the pound's property. We are going for interview tomorrow but I fear they may say that she needs a home where she is the only dog and won't listen to the fact we know her and she gets on ok w Cody on walks so...
She is arriving on Saturday. Eeep. I knoiw my dog will be fine as he very submissive and friendly. She has a sharper edge to her and I need to watch that Cody doenst irritate her.
Some of u may know from prev posts I am a bit of a worrier - not w horses as I know what I am doiung w them, but I...
I don't really give food treats anyway, and cody doesn't sleep in our bedroom or anythinmg so hopefully there won't be much cause for jealousy.
In my wildest fantasy after few months they will get on really welland sleep together, which Cody would love. I am not hoping too much tho.
We have 3...
I need some advice re introducing a new, older dog to the house. I have a 3yo castrated makle whippet who is very gentle. A neighbour has become very sick and his dog (middle aged non-hyper border collie ex working sheepdog) was taken on by other neighbours. She didn't get on well with their...
Lol so iyou have spotted I may be a worrier. Me? Never! ;)
Thanks for the compliments re his condition. I have bought him a coat as in the town he does more walking and feels the cold more than in the country when he ran around like a nutter. I don't want him getting any thiner I don't think...
