Sorry for your loss, but I do not think £165.00 is excessive for Euthanasia and Cremation and you cannot blame the vet for the costs set by the crematorium. I paid £150 for cremation alone of my beagle. And a separate vet bill of £52 for her Euthanasia and I was perfectly happy with that.
I would ask for a referral to a specialist veterinary hospital as they have far more experience and diagnostic equipment available to them than your general vet has. It will be expensive but you should get an answer :luck: Good luck I hope your wee dog is back to normal soon
I have no experience of this but I would say if you trust your vet then try what they say if you don't then go and get a second opinion from another vet. Some of the symptoms your listing ear infections, scooting on bum, infections under paws sound like an allergy/intolerance to something which...
Dog food is a very controversial subject I am afraid some people believe what they feed is correct and everyone else is wrong, I personally think that what foods suit one dog don't suit every dog, I believe buy the best you can afford and if your dog eats it, enjoys it and looks well, is...
I think 2 together would be a great idea but that depends on what training the 13 month old dog has had from the breeder, if it is a well balanced has basic training pup then I would go for it, but if the 13 month old is at the same level as your younger pup then that would be hard work to get...
I have been part of the scottish beagle racing club and various other beagle groups for 10 years now and have only come across 1 aggressive beagle in all the hounds I have met so I do feel sorry for you lurcherman that you haven't been able to see them for the cracking wee dogs they are
Hiya Its normal/common, he just has an itch, maybe a bite or a patch of dry skin or a wee mat in his coat, my youngest does the same when you give him a good scratch his back leg joins in (I say he is trying to kick start his motorbike!!)
My husband bought me a Maglite rechargeable a few years ago, its amazing I can see for miles with it and I can use it as a weapon if needs be :) Husbands idea of safety instead of him getting up early and walking the dogs with me!! (w00t)
Hiya Hayley,
I got my first beagle 12 years ago she was 6 and an ex breeding bitch, the most stubborn awkward little dog I have ever met, but the most amazing wee girl who taught me so much about being owned by a beagle! I now have 2 beagle boys aged 3 and 10 and my house is filled with naughty...
Personally I would get him castrated as the retained testicle has a much higher chance of turning cancerous, so better to chop them off now than when a problem arises :luck:
Try giving him a few biscuits or a handful of his food just before bed, my oldest boy does the same thing, it seems he cant go too long between meals or he is sick, hope this works :)
What a lovely Beagle
I have had beagles for 12 years now and you are describing a "normal" beagle, they steal, run away, cuddle, sleep in your bed, sunbathe, sleep, play with toys, bark and howl pretty much all day every day LOL
What weight is your dog? from the photos he does not...
Half way between 1st and 2nd season is the recommended time due to the blood supply to the uterus. So 12 weeks after 1st season would probably be the best time :flowers:
Sorry but yes it is possible for a dog to carry on normally with cruciate damage, my boy limped 3 times for 5 minutes over 4-5 months and I rested him for a few days each time and he was sound again very quickly, one day after a normal walk he could not put the leg down, at surgery the vet...
Re post this question in the racing section I bet lots of whippet people will have experience of this type of injury and be able to offer you advice, hope he is okay soon
Sorry I don't understand what is meant by medical exams?
Personally due to the speed the lumps are growing I would have them removed and have her speyed at the same time to remove all the hormones. BUT this is a very personal choice if you are happy with your vet and trust them then you should...
Check with Royal Canin they have a customer helpline, they will be able to guide you to a suitable alternative if the adult food is unsuitable or let you know if the adult version is ok :flowers:
Sorry to hear of your experience, every animal I have been with when the time came has responded differently, with regards to opening their bowels and bladder, the diaphragm and the gasping can happen as its a muscle.
It sounds as though your wee dog had gone before any of that happened so at...
Meant to be good, haven't tried it as my boy cannot take any tablets without them upsetting his guts, they work for 12 weeks against fleas and most ticks, 8 weeks for brown dog ticks (which I don't think we have in the uk) I think its about £15 per tablet so about the same as Frontline...
Same as Murphy he sliced his on a lager can in the park in Bonnyrigg that the tractor lawnmower had ran over and sliced up!! Total d**kheads should put their rubbish in the bins!!
Hope your boy is doing well now xx
