Working on food change but now we have the added problem of him eating cat poo!!!!
I have 2 cats so know when they go out and where they go but there are a million cats round here and cannot know where every pile is hidden! We have loads of gravel areas and bushes and concealed areas and it is...
Hi Jasp
He's on Pedigree puppy food and a puppy mixer. We feed him the amount it advises and he eats twice a day.
I don't know about his habits before we got him at 10 weeks, he wasn't with his mum then, she was in a separate pen, so he was running around with his siblings.
Someone is with...
Just wanted to pop on and say thank you again to everyone who gave advice or just gave a damn! ;)
8 1/2 months and still on his favourite diet! Determination on both sides still going strong though so still very hopeful he will get bored as I am giving him no chance and standing over him...
I have been doing this, though with a 'wait' command. We do it with treats, the way you suggest, and with food as we were hoping the command would work when keeping him from eating anything he shouldn't.
It works beautifully with everything but the poo!! I am trying now to say nothing, just...
I know people say it's common or natural but it is disgusting to see and even worse when he comes in and wants a kiss!!
He actually has not eaten anything he shouldn't for a long time now but that is purely because he has a chaperone every time he goes outside!
Oh I think he's just beginning to realise that!! We gave him a bone from the butcher the other day and when either of us went near him he was ready to kill to defend his treat!! So we took it away, then later he had it back then we took it away after a little while and now he just lets us...
Just a quick update for those interested.
Have tried everything suggested (apart from eating meat near him as I'm veggie and don't think a carrot would have the same appeal!) and he is still choosing to eat the poo!
At the moment I am standing at the back door when he goes into the garden and...
Thank you again, all these ideas are being tested, yoghurt didn't work. Have changed his diet a couple of times with no luck but havent tried Iams so off to the pet store we go! Thank you
Ok natural yoghurt it is!! Tried everything and will keep trying new ideas.
Have another fight on ou hands now, I have 2 cats, the male and JRT get on great the female however has given him umpteen scratches, which he probably deserved sometimes and which I could deal with, but now she has...
Banana I have checked his diet with the vet and they say his diet is perfect.
Hula - every time I am there lurking as I know his 'body language' when he is about to poo and immediately he has finished I give him a very firm 'no' which he understands for everything else. He is a smart cookie...
Thank you so much everyone for continuing to help and give advice. I am trying hard not to chastise him but sometimes it is so frustrating i'm sure he's well aware that he's getting to me, maybe it's the fixed 'smile' on my face!
I have considered a muzzle and may well give it a go though he's...
I am always there, that's the problem! My life is being taken up by this puppy who I cannot leave alone in the garden. If I stand right next to him he won't go and then I'm worried he'll do it in the house when I'm not there. So being able to recognise his behaviour just before he needs to go...
Hi Hula, He doesn't do anything when we're out and about just saves it all up til we get home!! I can't always have him on the lead in the garden, he needs to be able to get out whilst I get ready for work etc.
I am determined to sort this and have been searching for a solution since the first...
Oops sorry eingana!!!! :>
Didn't get time to feed it to him this morning so he had pineapple chunks in his dinner, though I had to remove them from bowl and mash them up, although I had cut them into tiny chunks he was still able to lift them out of the bowl and dump them on the floor!
Will...
Apparently, according to a text message I have just received, some vets recommend pineapple chunks mixed into the dog food?! I will give it a go but not looking forward to what will need to be cleared up!! :x
