    Holiday blues

Just returned from two weeks in the States. Had a lovely time, but I am really suffering with the post holiday blues. Does anyone else get this when they come back from a trip?

    Help new puppie

Hi & welcome, Firstly i'd say stop with the rubbing nose in it, doesn't work. Dog cannot assosiate what they've done wrong. Secondly pups of that age need more than two walks. Generally lots of little walks rather than two big walks as there bones are still developing. Now puppy pads. I don't...

    Whippet or chihuahua?

Hi! I do like bigger dogs and for that reason I would automatically go for a whippet. However, my brother has two chihuahua's. One is lovely, the other not so much. A bit barky. I think the key for a small dog is to treat them as a normal dog. The mistake a lot of people make is picking them...

My dog keeps attacking my other one

Hi, How were they introduced? Did you introduce them on neutral ground or bring the new dog in straight away. It maybe the older dog is still getting used to sharing his space with another. I wouldn't leave them alone until you know for sure it's settled down completely.

    Boxer wobbles

I'd just be careful with the finger in the mouth. As I know when people have epileptic fits they advise not to put fingers in the mouth to unblock airways, as they have a tendancy to bite down during a fit without knowing. I assume it maybe the same with dogs.

    New member

We've had Oreo for three years. She is now 8 or 9. We got her from the RSPCA. We did go to training class, where she was very good but we stopped going a few months ago when she has her lump removed. Fortunately, she had the lump removed and seems better now but haven't picked it back up. We...

Hi Debbie, Welcome along! I am half way there (well maybe a quarter ish) as I have a labrador cross. Unfortunatley, not with a poddle. I do love the look of a labradoodle. Not sure what they're like to be around thought, what kind of temperament do they have? Have you had Mac from a pup?

    Dog attacked

Hi & Welcome, Sorry to hear about your dog. It's an awful experience for both you and your dog to go through. I am glad that he is now on the mend. Was the other dog reported? As for you and your dog it's important that any apprehension is not passed to your dog as they are very good at...

    Boxer wobbles

Hi & Welcome. Yes I have and do experience with Oreo. She kind of has head twitches and losses her balance too. Very hard to describe. The vets have said it's a mild form of epilepsy however at her ages isn't worth treating, unless it gets worse. We notice she does it a lot when there is...

    House training a rescued dog

Hi, I have had my rescue three years and it's only been recently that we've started to see a different side to her. She would never roll on her back and she is doing it more and more. Once they learn to trust you then they will open up. Until then it's keep going and keep consistant and they...

    Moving to the UK

Hello & Welcome! I love the idea of flyball (unfortunately my dog is too old). I am sure there are plenty of things to do. A good place to start is the local government/council website. As we're getting closer towards winter I suspect a lot of outdoor dog events will finish until the summer...

What is in UK dog food?

I thought that dog food has to be fit for human consumption. The one issue I have found with dog food is it isn't clear what exactly is in the foods. In my case I was checking for wheats etc but this also applies to the meat etc. I'm not sure I can answer your question however, one way around...

    Bald patch on my Westie

Hi! Westies are known to have skin problems. As I found out from my dog just because you don't see them chew does not mean they're not chewing. It could be as something as simple as a flea allergy or more complex like an allergy to food or dust. It may even be doggy dry skin. I would consult...

    Transporting a dog safely

This is one thing I worry about. When my dog needs to come into the car with me I always make sure she has her seatbelt on. I'd love to get some kind of crate for her but my car is too small. Maybe making the boot a crate by putting up a guard in the back could help?

Help with my puppy (New member)

Lovely photo! :) My Oreo had skin scrapes about 2 years ago. She suffers with allergies. However in her case further investigation was required. Hopefully as he's a pup he will grow out of it. We've managed to control Oreo's allergies. We still don't know what causes them but she's more...

Help with my puppy (New member)

Welcome to the forum Tommyboy! What a gorgess dog. Have the vets confirmed what is wrong? If it's an issue with abuse, you will probably have to work with him to keep him calm etc. I am sure in time he will learn to trust you. Dogs are great at copying other dogs so you could use your older...

Oreo, why are you so itchy? an update

Ok so just got back. Her left gland is cleared however the right one was full of puss and blood :( She now seems much more relaxed now it's empty. She has got to go in on Tuesday where the vet is going to put her to sleep and flush out her gland in the hope that it finally gets rid of the...
