Raising a puppy in a flat and working shifts. Need advice

I've managed to do it loads of times, where there's a will, there's always a way of doing it. To this day I still work full time and have a dog.

    Crufts * Spoiler Alert*

@Biker John....the collies didn't stand a chance...at times neither did the person behind the camera.

    Crufts * Spoiler Alert*

Can anyone tell me why the Yorkshire terrier and the black and tan terrier are in the toy group instead of the terrier group. Surely a terrier is a terrier no matter what size it is.

    Crufts * Spoiler Alert*

I only saw the terriers,I was disappointed I called the Jack Russell to win,but it was too civilised.. all them terriers and not one hooligan amongst them. That's all I saw,I had a gig to go to.

Love only goes so far ?

I gave up ages ago on rescuing, kept failing home checks. I've had dogs for 46 years now,but it's going to be a puppy instead of a rescue dog in a few months time. Sad because I can give one a really good home. I'm very experienced in keeping lurchers and terriers. I must admit it does grind my...

    Mystery Illness

I'm no vet or Doctor...all the symptoms you have said I also had. Swollen leg, out of breath, lathargic, tight stomach from retaining fluid (also reason for swollen leg which started weeping). My Gp started treating me for one thing, when in fact I was suffering heart failure. The cardiac nurse...

How often do you walk your dog?

Three times a day we are out on the moors. I'll often pick a good spot, sit down and let her do what she likes doing best...that's being a terrier.

    Constant shielding

I've heard of white greyhounds shedding like this before, apart from the shedding they were perfectly healthy. So it may be a thing you have to live with unfortunately.

    Yelping, scratching, biting

Once had a Border Terrier dog,no matter what we did he sounded like a Tasmanian Devil. Mind you it wasn't far off the mark at times. It was always best at the vets,he always started laughing when he saw us in the waiting room. The look on people's faces when we came out was priceless at times.

Do's and don'ts at the groomers.

I don't bother with the groomers anymore after they used clippers on one of my border terriers, which is a big no no. Besides that, they always try to get back to there most horrible scruffy selves when I've stripped them. They go on the hunt for mud or worse. I always picture them sniggering like...

New longdog (saluki x greyhound) owner

He looks a little belter, looking forward to hearing about his journey to adulthood. Don't let him run,let him do some growing first.

Why might an owner not want his dog neutered

I go to alot of lurcher/longdog events, usually there's about 30 dogs and bitches. The vast majority of these dog are all intact. I can't remember the last time I saw any hassle between the dogs.
