14 year old springer deafness

I know he's getting old, but is very fit, healthy and doesn't look his age, but he has recently gone deaf as a post, but can still hear high pitch noises.

He can hear clapping or high pitched puckered lips noise, but cannot here commands. It's not really a big problem, but if it can be fixed I'd like to know.

Is this normal in old age, or could it be wax etc.
