I am so sad to post this, I have a lovely 16 month old saluki cross who I have had since Feb this year. He is just settling down from a hooligan puppy into a nice dog but unfortunately this week he has discovered my neighbours chickens, and has brought them home in various stages of featherlessness.
As our garden is proving impossible to Merlin proof and I don't want to keep him tied up all the time we have come to the sad decision to find him a new home. I have also posted on Lucherlink.
He is a good family dog, we have 2 children, 18 months and 5 years, so he is used to babies and younger children and is an absolute softie with them.
He comes when called, as long as you have a treat for him and gets on very well with my dad's dog. He will sit, when he wants to, doesn't go on the furniture, unless your not looking and does not beg at the table during mealtimes.
He doesn't bark in the house but does guard the garden, so he is used to being tied up for short periods of time, when the postman is due.
He is smooth coated but I think is crossed with something smaller as he is slightly smaller than a saluki.
He is neutered vaccinated, booster due Feb, and is microchipped although I have lost the details.
We are near Sleaford in South Lincolnshire.
I am really hoping to find a home for merlin through this forum as I don't want him to become yet another lurcher in a rescue centre, but we really want him to go soon now we've made the decision.
Here are some photos I took yesterday.
