(Mini growl @ Vicky I was just posting as you were closing the topic  , luckily I got the brains to copy and paste :- " )

Here's some ideas:

THE LIVE DRAW !!! Done on the field or in the car park where EVERYONE or at least anyone who wants to can get in and see the draw made and heats announced LIVE - also goes for trap draw - if your dog is the first left hand runner out the bag it gets the left hand trap simple as ... if you want to swap traps to get further to your side you ask the owner of the dog next door to yours and so on along the line that way you don't push anyone out and nobody feels cheated (GOD FORBID).

LUCKY DIP OPENS !!! Let's see who's really in it for the "sport", let them be Top Ten Opens to give a little extra temptation (for some). Adult category, yearlings, veterans, pups, scratch. All racers know is location and weigh in time and whether handicap is up to 35lb or 32lb before scratch racing.

Distance draw done on the day LIVE, as is handicap draw for each individual section and weight groups.

Anything from 150yds to 200yds on the straights with a handicap anything from half yd/lb to yd/lb. Dog/Bitch Seperate or all in for adults dependent on what's drawn. Also weight groups drawn on the day, all in, one class, three classes, five classes or even more.

Pay your money and take your chance, nobody gets an advantage because nobody knows what to expect

:huggles:

I'm in for the live draw, we did this at Westhoughton Bend Open and no-one complained, they couldn't as they knew it'd been done fairly.

Also as i said in the other post i want to see drug testing being drawn in public

not trust the committees then vic (w00t) ojnly joking i agree with you :)

It is just so much easier to do things out in the open than to argue the toss at a later date with no proof to back you up, and that way people might go away gutted they've not drawn the ideal trap but they can't go away and say you've fiddled it for your mates dog.

fleesh has come up with some great ideas there.

Drug testing easy one just put the classes in a hat and draw them out... after classes are run , also give people plenty time to prepare there dogs ie drinks ect...

Manton doors only open in the shed if anyone wishes to witness draw and sometimes people stay around sometimes they dont :))

Why draw for testing after classes ???? could it not be done straight after weigh in ???

theres quite a lot to do straight after the weigh in so not sure :(

Valid point just thought if a time was stated say 10 mins after weigh in or even when programmes been printed as people queue to collect them ??? just suggestions :))

I suggested it but someone said well if people knew then they would withdraw from giving there dogs anything ...

I also suggested to do it before the racing draw randomly and test what ever doesn't need to be winners, but the same was said , it leaves it open for people to administer substances once they knew they weren't getting tested...

Not that i hope anyone would

Ideally then all classes should have samples taken from them so that owners didnt have any know as to whether they would be sent or not and then after all samples taken - which ones were to be tested drawn out in the public eye. This way it would be fairer as no one would know IF they were going to be the ones sent for testing. Atho that would be much more work, more money for kits i suppose and by the end of the day lots of people have gone home.

More money for the vet as they charge per hour

That was one of my points (money and the cost of it) but if members are paying more to cover testing would it not run to cover it, so that no one had the need to feel cheated ??

no problem doing an open random draw for drug testing at every NNWRF wether we are testing on the day or not I would suggest however those drawn should be sealed in envelope an revealed near the end of racing

the NNWRF are planning on doing an open draw this year the only reason we normally pack Dee and Don off with his little balls is so there are no distractions and they are able to get a programme out as quick as possible (gives us time to put any errors right ) :- "
