My 3 yr old has started weeing indoors at night. Every so often he starts this up. We went about 5 months of being "dry" at night and for no reason that we can see has started this up again. We do have a crate - do I need to put him in it at night? Or - do I treat him like a tiny pup again and let him out every 2 hours at night? All advice on this welcome. Thanks Anne

Iwould get him checked over by the vet to rule out any kidney or bladder problem or diabetes etc first...if the vet gives him the all clear I would crate him at night for a while until he stops doing it but usually there is a reason even if at first it does not seem obvious.

Is it perhaps due to it getting very cold at night now?

I know Logan (also 3) can be a right little pest and if it's very cold outside he will just stand at the back door and won't go and do his last wee/poo before bed. No matter how long I leave him out there he just won't go.

Fortunately he has a steel bladder and waits til morning!

I agree get the Ok from the vet and then crate him again for a while, making sure you see him go for a wee at bed time. I go out with Maya sometimes when she wanders off and i can't see her, just to make sure she goes for a wee at bedtime.

Cold nights often make them want to go for a wee when they'd normally sleep through.
