My heart goes out to these poor souls, bred at Mossbawnhill hopefully their details will be on the website shortly.

The poor owner Tony must be beside himself with worry i just hope he has someone over there to help him as i dont think there is a doglost over there but i hope someone can advise him regarding posters & rewards offered & contacting local papers & radio stations & canvassing all the local sites etc.

I hope these babies are back home soon.

As Nik has said above, three of the stolen whippets were bred by us (Mossbawnhill) - I am attaching the photo's below...the three that we bred are all microchipped but unfortunately I do not know anything about the fourth one..I think it is a red fawn parti but don't know if he is chipped or not?? I cannot tell you anymore than is already mentioned as I am waiting for Tony to get back to me with more details...but what I do know is that the guards (police) have been involved & the area has been searched extensively & that all the rescue centers & local pounds have also been notified, whoever stole the dogs broke into Tony's house to gain access to them as they all lived indoors & as far as we know they left via a back field as there was a makeshift leash made from blue baler twine found lying in the field & another in the yard. Tony is understandably devastated & just as soon as I know more I shall post again.

Please feel free to cross post this anywhere that you feel will get an audience.

    Pamela.

Fingers, and everything else....., crossed for thier safe return as quickly as possible :luck: I know how Tony and yourselves must be feeling right now Pamela :( , but try to stay positive. Of course it goes without saying that if we can do anything to help you only have to ask xxx ;)

Thankyou Tracy..I really don't know what else we can do at this stage as Tony seems to have most things covered..he is totally distraught & has'nt slept since they were taken.

I have now spoken to Tony & it seems that whoever stole these dogs were watching Tony's home very closely as his routine was totally different that day to any other Fri,they were taken between 4pm & 5.30pm and they rekon that there were at least 3 or 4 people involved,Tony lives on a busy road where there are always people coming & going & he has neighbours on either side of him....no-one saw or heard anything! The guards have been notified & have done their own extensive search of the area,Tony & some friends have also searched non-stop since Fri but to no avail. They have even gone to all the local gypsy camps to see if they could see anything there...again nothing. All the ports were notified by the guards immedaitely & all the dog pounds have been notified too as have the rescues, & the dogs details are also listed on the greyhound database. Posters have been made & put up everywhere! offering a reward no questions asked & no repercussions for the safe return of all 4 dogs..I have also contacted doglost & posted their details with them,so anyone who is a helper with dog lost can download the posters & please put them up anywhere that you can.I really don't know what else to do...? If anyone thinks of something that we have'nt covered please do let us know as any advice will be greatly received. Thankyou!

they are listed - with one photo - as lost on http://www.ispca.ie . I think they are going to be posted on http://www.irishanimals.ie

What about UK sites such as lurcherlink, sighthoundsonline, lurcherSOS ?

How seriously are the Gardai examining the matter, considering that there was a break-in?

I see there is a "buyers beware" advert on http://donedeal.ie, didn't see anything on http://www.gumtree.com or http://buyandsell.ie

Between the many members of k9community, we could get a team together to keep an eye out for relevant "for sale" ads on similar sites both Ireland and UK, share out the load so we don't have to all keep track of all the different sites.

I'd think thieves would rather go for reward than for sale, especially with dogs that are microchipped, but to leave no stone unturned - and the dogs could already have been taken across to Wales or Liverpool by ferry. Might be worth a note on the lurcher thread as sometimes people sell dogs at the lurcher shows.

someone replying to my post at petsireland said the dogs were in a pen but 05whippet's info (on another k9 thread) is that they were in the house. Which is correct? Some of the on-line lost notices specify that Gardaí have been notified. Have the police been helpful?

Philippa..I honestly can only relay what Tony (their owner) told me today when I spoke to him,I asked if they broke into his house to get the dogs & he said yes,so I can only take him at his word..I do know that the dogs lived indoors, though I believe he did have a fully enclosed garden which acted like a large pen with a shed in it that the dogs could use if out in the garden...sorry other than this I really don't know anymore. And yes,Tony said that Guards had been most helpful & it was their idea to notify all the docks with the details of the stolen dogs immediately,so as not to waste any time.

I was speaking to Tonys friend Martin who is helping him and asked him exactly what happened,he said the dogs were stolen from a pen in the garden, they do live in the house with him but on this occasion they were in the pen while he was out. He has informed the ferry ports in Ireland (perhaps someone could inform the UK ones just in case that not been done?) I advised him to contact all the local papers too. If everyone can keep their eyes peeled and make this as public as possible by crossposting, postering etc. Unfortunately my internet connection is playing up so I cant get online as much at the moment.

How very strange.... Tony must've been a bit confused when I asked him the question about the house, which is understandable as he is sooo upset by this,a lot of what he was saying I did have to ask him to repeat it as he was really getting quite distraught at having to relive it. It is not important anyway about where they were what is important is that we try & make these dogs "too hot to handle" & hopefully they will be either returned or left somewhere where they can be picked up & returned back to Tony..I can't even beging to imagine how he must be feeling as I know how all this is affecting me!

.. or perhaps his friend has got it wrong, either way you are right Pamela thats not important, what matters is that everything that can be done, is done to get them back home safely x x
