can anyone tell me anything about the affix KENINE im a little confused as i bought a dog with this name at the front of his name so i take it to be his affix bred by a certain person and then someone i know bought a whippet dog from a totally different place with excatly the same KENINE in front of his name just wondered if anyone had any ideas about this thanks

It's the Kennel name used by the Kennel Club...they use Ken, then the year, so your dog was born 2009, I know this because Ken is followed by nine. It is used when the person(breeder) doesn't have a Kennel name of their own.

ah right thanks very much that exsplains a lot of things  one other thing then does it mean i have to use kenine in front of their name when i enter them for a show or can i just use their name ?

If you are entering him for a KC show, then you must use his full registered name which obviously starts with Kenine. You may be getting a little confused, some 2 or 3 years ago(possibly longer??) the Kennel Club decide to use the term 'Kennel Name' instead of Affix/Prefix etc.

To help:

One of my dogs is called Tormor Grittar..Tormor is my Kennel Name & the equivalent to Kenine, so when entering shows I always write her full name of Tormor Grittar. If Kenine was my Kennel name I would have to write Kenine Grittar. Hope this helps to explain...

Thanks very much that clears it up then used to show whippets yrs and yrs ago but they never had that then only the affix or prefix or kennel name whatever u want to call it lol

Kennel name, the name of the kennels where the dog comes from can be either used as a prefix (before the dog's name) or an afix (after the dog's name). lets say you have kennel name HAWKY and name the dog Rover; if you say "HAWKY Rover" then the Hawky is a prefix, if you have Rover HAWKY, then the kennel name is an afix. In some countries; like here in OZ we only have prefix, that is our kennel name always comes 1st. In other countries people have a choice, or they can also add their kennel name to a dog they bought from other kenels. So somebody might buy HAWKY Rover and change his name to HAWKY Rover of SOMEOTHER KENNELS. So then Rover has both prefix and afix. Hope that made it all clear :)

Not really....Over in the UK the KC have changed, what used to be known as an affix/prefix is now called Kennel Name. So my Kennel Name is Tormor, in the eyes of KC there is no such thing as affix or prefix
