Max had his xray today (postponed from Tuesday). We had mixed news. His head is totally better although will always be dented.

The ulna - which had the straight break and the bit of bone popped out has about another inch to grow.

The radius which was in 8 pieces is growing quite well but is still very much in pieces. The plate is stable and it's not a loose screw but it is raised up. They want to leave it in as long as possible as removing the screw will make it less stable. It doesn't look like he'll be fit enough to have the plate removed in June as planned. Four orthapaedic surgeons looked at him today and they seem reasonably pleased with his progress. He was treated like royalty!!!

Tiny went along too and we took him for a fish and chip picnic in the snow while we waited, and because it was so cold and snowy he had his pj's on with his coat over the top and loads of people smiled and said hello to him, which cheered him up no end!

he is still onwards and upwards regardless of the setback in time hun , naughty alice sends the boys lots of growls and nios and lots of kisses for you hun xx

Glad to hear there is some improvement even if not as much as you expected. Some progress and healing is better than no progress at all.

Alice, William says he thought you were his girlfriend and to tell you to stop two timing him

Tiny thinks Baby Alice is his girlfriend too - but he has got two others called Jess and Tia!

Here are Tiny (left) and Tia (right), can you spot the difference?

boys now dont swap scar stories etc , you both KNOW she is a terrible flirt :D

some pics have been added in general dog disc for you boys to drool over :clown:

Big step forward today - we've taken the crate down! Yes, five months down the line and we are officially crate free! Max hasn't used it for the last week so we've decided it's time to put it away. He can walk about half a mile now, he's got his next check up in April. :) ;D We've actually got floor space now! ;D

Max had his next check up yesterday and was passed fit to travel for our holiday in May. AND!!!! He has been given permission to start gentle (!) running on the lead - only about 5 steps though and then he's supposed to stop! ;D

He's got to have some additional treatment though - acupuncture to help his shoulders.

mmmmmmmmmmmm how are they expecting you to allow a greyhound to only run about 5 steps then stop?

Glad to gear he's been given the ok to travel on holiday with you :D

Max has developed a hip problem which may or may not be related to his broken leg - latest on that is the ulna still has 3/4 inch to grow and the radius is packing together quite nicely but still got clear breaks. Also, the joint seems to be fusing and he can only bend his wrist about 30 degrees now.

We are off to the vets tonight so get it checked because he is already two legs down - his right wrist is riddled with arthritis and playing up because he is leaning on it so much.

Max has been doing really well and was walking about 3 miles on holiday last week. He suddenly went very lame and after a trip to the vet discovered he had a loose screw in his leg. This was removed yesterday and he is doing much better now. He is walking better, playing and even running around! The bone growth is excellen - it's never going to be very strong, but that's what the plate is there for.

Anyway, here are a couple of piccies of Max post op yesterday.

Oh Max at least the loose screw in your leg is sorted now you can get on wih gettin that leg better

It just goes to show how indestructable these greyhounds can be what with Max with his leg and William with his shoulder one day we will have to meet up and let them compare war wounds. I don't think I'm going to make the show at Perry Bar next week as I am supposed to be having 2 whippets coming to stay. I'm hopping there owner can make other arrangements for them as I have bitches in season and 1 is an entire dog who Bandit hates. We had them stay at christmas for 2 days and that was hard enough keeping them both apart withough a bitch in season thrown into the mix :(
