Was talking to a local landowner the other week, we excercise the dogs on some land near his and we got talking one day. He has a couple of fields that hold a few rabbits that he wanted thinning out as the burrowing was damaging his land , he had already had a bullock lame due to the burrowing.
We took advantage of the break in the rain this morning to take a quick look and hopefully catch some rabbits.
Me Harry Gypsy and Suzie jumped in the Disovery and drove the short distance to the fields.
No sooner had we walked into the field, the dogs had a rabbit up and coursed it well , it managed to escape into a drain. We decided not to ferret it considering the amount of rain we`ve had.
We concentrated on set this morning , we saw a few rabbits run in .
As we were doing a pest control job, we netted up , the dogs role being to guard the nets and watch for escapees.
We got 3 bolters , one shook off the net in the thorns of the hedge and was escaping until Suzie and Gypsy nailed it.
The ferret emerged just as some heavy rain started, so we cut short our ferreting this morning, we`ll have another look when we get some better weather
