hi, my dog gets a lot of sleep building up in his eyes and it gets stuck in his eyelashes a lot meaning I need to wash them a lot. Today I noticed he had a dry one stuck in his eyelashes which I thought I could only get out by soaking them. Before I got chance to do that he itched his eye and ripped it out along with his eyelashes. His eyelid is bleeding a tiny bit so I’ve washed it.
Should I take him to the vet or should I just wash it regularly to avoid infection and let it heal?
I’m also worried if I wash it with salt water it’ll get in his eye

You can go to the vet... What breed of dog do you have? Saline solution (salt water) is safe to use. You can use half a teaspoon of salt to 2 cups of lukewarm water. Hope This Helps - Violet

I think I'd be inclined to take him to the vet, not so much for a scratch on his eyelid but more to make sure he hasn't scratched his eye itself; and to resolve the problem of his eyes gumming up in the first place - in case next time he really does damage his eye.
