It was our local Carnival & fun fair on Saturday so off I went to have a wander round the car-boot. I took Scrumpy with me for a walk & the bloke in charge of one of the stalls (selling cheap T-shirts) took a fancy to her.

"Nice little lurcher you've got there" he said

"Thanks" I said

"What does it get?" he says

And this is where the advice I've read on here came back to me.....

"Nothing at all, she lives with cats & has no chase instinct at all :- " "

he sort of tutted & said

"Give it to me for a week then, I'll sort it out"

I just laughed & walked off but kept away from that bit & was a bit paranoid about going home, kept looking over my shoulder in case I was being followed.

Isn't it sad that you have to feel this way :(

Yes it is sad that you feel you must look over shoulder when someone asks questions about your dog. However a certain amount of paranioa is a good thing.

My friend's staffy x pit (the now sadly departed Gromit) used to attract a lot of seemingly harmless interest. My friend got used to answering all questions with

"Oh yes she is lovely, but very old now with hardly any teeth and since she was spayed ........"

funny how very quickly folks lost interest and wandered off

very sad i agree JT - particularly as we're all proud of our dogs and their achievements, but it's much better to err on the side of 'keeping their thieving mitts off my baby!'
