Hi All,

My beddyxwhippetxgrey who is nearly 1 year old had a collision with another lurcher 2 weeks ago in a field at full speed.

He was caught on his back end, and really yelled (as lurchers do)

After a good cuddle and reassurance he walked off quite happy. I rested him from any running for a week and have done a lot of road walking with him the last 2 weeks. When he runs or trots along he is very straight through the shoulder and back and has a good foot fall, however when he walks he does not seem right from his hip down his off hind. I would have thought if it were a muscle or sprain or bruising this would have healed itself by now. It is almost like his hip has dropped and is stiff down the leg - (it is only very slight you have to really look to see it)

Do you think I should get it checked by a vet, or leave it a bit longer, or find a dog osteopath????

I always think if your worried pop him along to the vet, for peace of mind, if he need treatment now and something sets wrong it could be worse in the long run

I know I dont have lurchers but a dog's a dog :)

It sounds very similar to a friends whippet who took a knock. She was taken to the vets who recommended a chiropractor.

she had slightly rotated her pelvis & this was put right with only 2 visits

yup see your vet even just to get a "once-over". hip area is a bad thing to damage..storm ripped his sacroiliac joint last may and wasnt able to run unti xmas !

Just to let everyone know i have taken him to see a McTimoney practitioner and he is fine. He had a slight adjustment done to his pelvis. Might have to go back next week - will see how it goes over the next few days.

good to hear he is ok and nothing much to worry about
