We went to the local over 70's party (as guests I might add!) and came home with a couple of mince pies and a 5cl miniature of whisky. I put them on the kitchen table and completely forgot about them. I've just gone into the kitchen to find the mince pies eaten, didn't give the bottle a thought until I walked into the lounge and wondered why it smelt. :- " The bottle was half empty on the carpet and now I'm concerned that Jonah (I think) has drunk the whisky. (w00t) I think quite a lot of it has spilled on the carpet and I can't smell anything on either dog's breath. Can't believe he would like it. Do you think it will hurt him and what about the raisins/sultanas in the mince pies? They were only small so hopefully they won't do any harm but I shall be watching them like hawks to check they are OK. This must have happened about 45-60 minutes ago and they seem fine at the moment. :sweating: What do you think?

Frankie once drank a large ish glass of red wine that i left by the side of the chair and didn't notice him lapping up (w00t) He suffered no ill effects :sweating:

Ever since he likes to come and have a little drink from my glass!

I don't think a mince pie should be too much to worry about, fingers crossed they will be fine :luck:

our jacs dog dobby got blotto on a bottle of my advocaat (or was it baileys) once!he was legless!but unharmed.wouldnt recommend it though  he had an awful hangover next day! (w00t)

Hi Gillian,

Hopefully it does sound as though your carpet has had most of the whisky ( best place for it in my opinion) so your dogs should be hangover free tomorrow. I know raisins can be pretty bad for dogs but think if it was over an hour ago there would be some signs by now if there were any ill effects.

My Hebe & Rafferty managed to polish off a box of choc liquers a few years ago & were fine.

Hope your boys are ok

Julie.

They both seem quite happy at the moment - charging after their toys, and Muffin is yelling for a treat from his box, so I'm hoping they are OK. But they can get you so worried, can't they? :sweating:

We hate whiskey as well - it was just in the goodie bag that everyone was given to take away with them!

Alfie (Collie) ate 3/4 's of my Mums Christmas cake last year    He hadn't any ill effects from all the dried fruit although I didn't feed him for a couple of days - he didn't half poo a lot!

Lots of dogs seem to drink alcohol in one form or the other - but I bet your carpet got most of it :))

Doesnt sound like you have much to worry about Gillian,

i think they like to give us these little scares :huggles:

Lets hope the boys wake up without any signs of pies or whisky

Muffin is fine. Jonah seems a little subdued but has eaten all his food - maybe he's got a little headache! I don't suppose for one minute that he will mend his ways though! :- "

My jack Russel drank a couple of glasses of my chocolate liquer I think lol. I went to have a drink and the glass was empty, didnt think I had drunk it but you know how the glass goes down before you realise. Refilled it and shortly after the same thing again. Then I noticed drips on the table around the glass. Filled it up again and watched and right enough she sneeked up onto the table and had her snout in the glass.

I am so glad I noticed as a little while later she fell of the settee and when she went out for a pee triped over the step on the way back in. She was somewhat staggery and i dont think she could of walked in a straight line or touched her nose with her paw

Morning....have just read your post ..... my advice for what it`s worth, as someone who lost the best friend in the world to raisin poisoning 5 weeks ago today, it does sound like your little thieves are fine but if they go off water at all, please check it out with your vet. I`m sure by now there would be signs if there was going to be any adverse reaction. :luck:

Yes, thanks. I must admit it was the mince pies that I most worried about and not the whisky. But he's eaten all his food this morning, we've been for a walk and he's charged round the garden so I think he's got away with it.
