hi all was just wondering if any of you can help us. is it normal for a pup to get so excited around strangers and family and not leave them alone. cinders will not let them have any peace at all she will constantly jump up at them then starts to play bite but sum times it does hurt.

No!!!!!!! You must stop her, tell her no very firmly and stop her jumping up. She is getting too excited and you are letting her. She has to learn manners and that you are the boss.

Put a lead on her when you have visitors and prevent her from biting and jumping up. Teach her to sit and stay before you let her greet people.

She is running rings round you. Firm but kind!!!!!!!!!!

Ask your guests and family to completely ignore her when she behaves like this. I agree with Berta, it should be stopped before your pup thinks it is acceptable.

Use elbows and knees to gently but firmly push her away. If she nips, or will not take a telling, I find holding the scruff of the neck firmly, but gently, with the pup pushed to the floor saying 'no' and keep hold untill calm ensues, effective. This is what mothers do with their pups and other adult dogs to show dominance it is not cruel. It may not work initally, but persevere and she will learn that you are the dominant 'mother' one and in charge.

Good luck :luck:

When Grace went through this stage and would get completely over the top at times I would give her 'time out' in a puppy pen - just ignore her for a few minutes (it didn't take long) until she had calmed down. Yelping when she bites and then ignoring her also works; again it is what her siblings would do.
