The journey to racing today was absolutely appauling. Driving rain, and strong winds clearly put many off of risking leaving home. But those who did were treated to a fine mornings racing. The rain stopped, from time to time the sun came out, but it did remain windy.

It was nice to see Dennis and Pearl again, their racing being curtailed by shift patterns at work, and they did seem to enjoy the outing almost as much as their dogs.

A new face was Kevin, a friend of Louises who trialled alovely young whippet, (whose name I cannot remember) and a fabulous sloughi who took to chasing immediately.

Racing was in two weight groups:

Lightweight heat winners:- Ypres, Xplicit and Bee United.

Semi winners Bee United, Xplicit

Final:- 1st Bee united, winning in style, 2nd was a dead heat between Xplicit and Milans Dream and 4th Ypres.

Cons winner: Xcalibur

Heavyweight groupheat winners:-Armistice Day and Alchemist

Final:- 1st Armistice Day, continuing his winning ways, 2nd Alchemist, 3rd The Maginot Line, 4th Bowans Dream.

Cons:- Yagans Dream

There will be racing at Glos next sunday if enough people want it, so please book asap.

p.s. forgot to mention Stig passed his clearing trials, so well done to him! Barbara and Alan were very proud.

Thank you June and Lesley and thank you both and Lou for letting us borrow your dogs to train Stig with :huggles: Stig is somewhat nonplussed! :D He's been telling me that he's a proper racing dog for several months now. :D

He came home and beat the hell out of Teddy Edwards as per normal. One day Ted is going to say to Stig enough is enough and Stig might lose his head. It's quite amazing watching a small (for us) whippet flinging a 80+lb giant schnauzer to the ground. Ted just loves it and encourages it. Meanwhile Old Bean (boss dog) takes bones off Stig and makes Stig hold them whilst he chews them. Just goes to prove that who is top dog isn't about who is the biggest or strongest but whom cons the others into thinking that he is. I've yet to see Stig challenge one of the whippets but Ted is his slave.

A big thank you from us all for letting us attend it was great . Hope to see you all again this Sunday?

I would love to see your sloughi running. You are lucky to have a place to run him. The BSFA organise lure coursing at Newbury, usually once a month. They have a web site so google it. Afghans, Salukis, Deerhounds, Borzois and whippets run. Well worth a visit. We did it from Cornwall but found it a bit too far.

We've finished running at my club now, the ground is a bit wet!!!! There is a spring that crosses the middle of the field, it's fine in the summer and keeps the track in really good condition.

I'll let you know when we are back again, I would love to see him running.
