Hey folks,

Just to make my weekend complete little midget dog James has had an allergic reaction and is swelling up fast.

I gave him a piriton at 3am when he was quite hysterical and itchy and lumpy, the swelling subsided but in the last half hour he has got lumpy again.

Just texted my friend who is a vet and he said give another piriton, which I have done....but any suggestions for what else I can do, I was thinking of giving him a cool bath to see if that helps soothe him.

No sign of whether he has been stung or bitten or if he has eaten something dodgy, but all the swelling is in his head region but the itching seems to be all over.. red blotches on his lips and itchyness everywhere like mad, it is driving him round the bend!!

help!!

That's exactly how my Sweep went not long ago, and in the end we found the remains of a wasp, so think it was a wasp sting to his face. I gave him the last of the Triludan we used to use in the vets, and the itching soon stopped - it was a couple of days before all the swelling went though. I've bought some Piriton now to keep in just in case it happens again. Hope James is soon back to normal, and that you find what has upset him. :luck:

Piriton should do the trick, check your garden for hedgehogs they carry all kinds of critters on them keep dogs away from them if possible he might have been bit by something off one

Thanks, definitely not a hedgehog able to get into my garden unless they can scale a five foot fence...I sort of think he's either been stung/bitten due to it all being his head region or he has tasted something he shouldn't have because the margin of his lips was all blotchy.

His ears keep randomly twitching, not sure why because I can't see anything in them or on them and I have looked right down inside with my scope which I bought for looking in the bunnies ears :p

Had a similar situation with Arnie a couple of years ago...he had been stung by a bee on the inside of his cheek..I found out when he spat out the bee and tried to eat it again!!!!

Hope that he's feeling better today.
