Hi--
We just had one of your breeder/judges come over and do a big Whippet specialty show in Ohio. The AWC Midwest Specialty is one of the Big Three regional specialties. They were the original three Regionals and prior to the American Whippet starting to hold Nationals in 1987, the Midwest was the biggest specialty and also hosted the Futurity, so it was as close to a National as you could get without actually calling it such. The Southern was added as a fourth regional, and now there are two more regionals--South Central and North Central, but the Midwest is still usually one of the bigger entries (although some years the Western and the Eastern have outdrawn it).
Part of the reason for this is that there are so many breeders within a two day drive. This year was well-attended.
Anyhow, a friend of mine (Rhonda Small) traveled there this year as a photographer and chauffeur to the judge, Pauline Oliver, and she made a small photo show.
I thought some of the people on this board might enjoy seeing the winners of our specialty show which was judged by one of your own.
AWC Midwest winners
By the way, I did not go. I am down to just one dog to show in classes and we just got back from a family vacation! Sorry to have missed it, but I enjoyed seeing Rhonda's photos.
