More bad news from today's racing :(

Saxon Gold was rushed to the vets from the East Sussex Derby today with possibly a very similar injury to Diesel's from what we can make out. There was a 3 dog bunching situation soon after the start and Saxon appeared to have got tangled up somehow.

If anyone can find out some news and post here I'm sure we will be grateful. A collection was taken up and nearly £100 was raised towards vet bills.

Good luck Saxon and Diesel :luck:

Poor little Holly. Fingers tightly crossed here for her. Kev and Lyn must be in bits.

Certainly puts a few small muscle tears in perspective. :(

Gosh, it's so sad to hear of all these poor whips getting hurt. Get well soon Saxon Gold, :luck: :luck: :luck:

Poor Holly. I do hope everything goes OK for her. We'll be thinking of he. Let us know if you hear any more news.

:( Thoughts and hugs for all whippets and their families... hope Holly will be on the mend soon :luck: :luck:

More bad news :( I'm so sorry to here this.

:luck: I wish Holly a speedy recovery :luck:

Just spoke to Kev and he is really pleased with Holly's progress , he has had her to see Kevin Reeves and he has made her quite comfortable. Holly has suffered spinal shock with deep muscle damage . With loads of T.L.C and time she should make a full recovery .

Phew!! That sounds a lot better than it could have been. Still not nice though. Hope Holly has a speedy recovery.

Great news!

I hope Holly continues to make a good recovery.

So soory to hear about Holly's injury but then relieved to hear there should be no long lasting damage. I gather from Conway that Kev was ready to chuck in racing for good. My only word of comfort is we have all been there, and felt the same at some time when faced with a badly injured dog. But please don't go, we would all miss you too muc!!! Hope Gypsy and Beau are all fine.

love Lesley :luck: :luck:

Can I ask if anybody knows what the ground conditions were like?

Two young dogs (same age), same sire, same day! Spooky!

Been replaying the day in my head all day and as RM at the Northern I feel guilty that I ran on soft ground and that was a contributing factor. Going forward it won't happen in future as I'd hate anybody to experience our last 24 hours.

Hi Scott,

I very much doubt the ground had anything to do with what happened and you shouldnt blaim yourself, it was an accident we race in a sport where the dogs are got as fit as possible and they are asked to stretch their bodys to the very limit in a sport they love to take part in, things rearly go wronge but when they do it leaves us asking questions and trying to find answers which are very hard to answer 100%.

it would of happened who ever was R/M, I know this is probably the last thing you wanted to hear but it's a fact and you know i'd be the one to point it out ;) chin up mate.

Thanks for posting the good news. I'm so glad that she'll be okay.

Can't imagine what the homeward journey was like for Kev and Lyn or last night.

Marks right.......it's just one of those things, Scott.....you mustn't blame yourself. 8)

I've had my share of bad luck with injuries, but they are active, athletic dogs, they love the chase, and inevitably there is a risk.

Having said that, even after Barneys' minor accident, I considered chucking in the towel and investing in a fat labrador.....it would save me a lot of walking time keeping the whipps fit and a lot of money if I stopped going up and down the motorway to races etc......But I think the whipps give me more than any lab. can, they're worth it, really.

I'm glad Holly seems to be on the mend...

Steady the buffs and keep smiling.. :D
