the "brindle express" excelled himself today at annaghmore. it all happened today folks..the show even got raided by the police in riot gear ..after a tip off that there was dog fighting   about 24 or more searched cars and trailers..to no avail (w00t) (w00t)

anyway the track was around 125 yds and on a gradient. 2 sets of hurdles to give the dogs something to do (billyboy has 34,756 pictures  ) .

dogs were ran in pairs in knockout form. COLT was given good competition but came good as hes a canine steeplechaser ! billy will pass his views on in the show side of things :- " :- "

straight racing followed same track minus the jumps..same format ..2 dogs each time..(meanwhile the amount of runs COLT had mounted for the whole day)..in the process he beat the newly crowned "all-ireland champion" slipped by rose for anne & eamonn. final run and 9th for the day..he got a good run from jim murrays dog TESS (ndltc)...but again came good.

the organisers wanted to run overs against unders for over all..were saving that for another event as COLT had ran more than twice the amount of heats as roses tori and was creased. to run him again was just plain selfish of me..and foolhardy as temperatures were hitting 17-18c :sweating: :sweating: ...he wouldntve done himself justice.

not that youll read this rose but well done for today in beating billys pup in the final by about 4-5 lengths  good run too billy

police gathering in squads once theyd raided the field..

final of overs

england next week.............GINPIT jac and vic beware !!

Now after going through hundred's of pic's,im mleft with about 2 dozen,as some are for printing to A4,as i have quite a few order's.90% of which are show pic's. And it's the show i'll start with,as im still rippen at the stupid judge. If i get his name ,i will post it on here.( I think he is the same judge who did the midland last year)

so that maybe someone over there will not only lend him a tape measure, but will kindly ,and quietly, take him to the side and show him the difference between a Whippet, and a lurcher, especialy since the Whippet in ?,won the bloody Whippet class.Anyway,to cut this short, the same Whippet who won the Whippet class, was placed either 2nd or 3rd,in the lurcher puppy class. These classes were the first 2,and were back to back.So it's not to say he did'nt remember it.Ah,and now to the under 23 smooth lurchers.Again a whippet or 2 in this, but that's life.Problem was though, that this year's All Ireland over 23 inch racing Champion, who stand's about 27 to the shoulder, was in the ring, and would you believe it,was called out with the other 2 selection's,including one of my own, for either 1st, 2nd,or 3rd.I did'nt keep my bitch in the ring, and told the judge that until he did things fairly,i would not show another dog,and that if he did not know the difference in an under 23,and a 27 incher, then he should'nt be in the ring either.A bit harsh i know, but straight, and without saying it behind his back.Anyway, the Champion pup,is a wee cracker, and in tip top condition. A credit to the young lad who look's after it.Well done mate.To all the other winner's also a big well done.As John say's,we nearly had a riot today, and i recon if they'd have lifted the dog's they were tipped of about,we would have had the riot. But again, all credit to the Lurcher, and Terrier folk, and to the organisers, for keeping the piece.Well done lad's.So first a few pic's of the showing, beginning with that smashing looking pup. anaghmore_sshow_026.jpg

And here's the mighty one, winning the final.Wish he would do summit spectacular over that jump though.Would'nt last to long in barbed wire land.anaghmore_sshow_020.jpg

OK.Now onto the racing. And was i a happy man,at the end of this.As there was no puppy racing, and the distance a mere 150 max,i decided to put Pyper in the over's and wee trouble in the under's.Well poor pyper got drew against the bitch who was reserve in the final,to Colt, and who also won the over's racing at Comber. He had no chance, and finished about 8 length's behind her.In saying that, she beat her next opponent by more i think, and this was Pyper's first run at a show, and only his 3rd run at a lure.Colt ran a couple of blinder's to reach the final,as he must have built in rechargables,or summit.4 time's over the jump's,and another 4 up the straight. The semi was close, too close. As there was almost a re run.It was won on the last stride,as Colt had the right footing to just pip his opponent by a short head on the line, and the decision had to be that of the line judge,as there was a difference of oppinion as to who actualy got there. As for the under's.Well i got a very pleasant shock here. Trouble, who i renamed, from Charmed, for reason's i wont go into here, was having her 4th run at a lure,as she had her first a fortnight ago,at the so called all ireland's,and fell victom to the disapearing lure, half way up,as all dog's in her race turned back when there was nothing left to chase.I gave her 2 run's one day last week, and took a chance that she would finish the course today. Her first run was tight,as she took off a bit late, not realy catching on to what was happening.2nd heat was against Roses wee Cody dog.Now although he is over the hill as far as racing goes,he still win's the simulated coursing,at time's,and know's the game ,very well.So i thought Trouble was in very serious trouble. But after the first run, summit must have clicked, and she went like a bat out of hell, and was finnishing realy strong. Before i new what was happening, the wee brat had got herself to the final, against none other than Miss Tori.Who is at the moment very race fit,and has just 2 week's ago, renewed her All Ireland title.I was expecting her to get beaten by a distance,as she's not yet 9 month's,totaly unfit, unschooled, and should'nt even have been in the final anyway. But she got there on merit, and has done the old ticker a world of good.Anyway, without further adoo,Tori left her at the start line, and stretched it to 4 n 1/2 or 5 length's,over the distance, which was all up a slight hill.So im going to say thankyou to her and a well done to Tori, for giving her a wee lesson on how to do it right. Now it's a matter of waiting to see if she learn's that lesson well enough to return it one fine day.Well done everybody. ...Billy...anaghmore_sshow_035__2_.jpg
