ANNIE

**UPDATED: 18th JULY 2012**

Please meet the very beautiful Annie. She is a 3 year old greyhound girl who just wants a family to love her. Sadly Annie was adopted about 2 years ago but has now come back to us due to a change in circumstances that had nothing to do with dear Annie. This lovely girl was so close to that forever family dream, and we would love to see her adopted sooner rather than later so that all this upheaval can be in her past. Annie is now currently in foster care.

Annie is a really lovely girl, find boned and slender with a super healthy shine to her black satin coat. She has huge chocolate brown eyes that are bright and intelligent, always eager to interact with you.

~ Personality ~

Annie is a really lovely lady. She is energetic, affectionate and super friendly with everyone and everything. She loves life and tries to make the most of every day. She looooves people and is always fully prepared to shower you with affection upon request. Annie really has incredible potential for training, agility, or doing something greatly beneficial such as being a therapy dog. She is sweet and affectionate but not in your face about it.

~ In the Home ~

Annie has been in her foster home for 3 weeks now, and is doing well despite all the changes. She gets on great with her foster siblings, which include a Labrador and 3 female greyhounds. She has been clean in the house from day 1, and settles perfectly through the night. Annie is also not destructive, ok to be left with other dogs, and doesn’t counter surf. She enjoys playing with toys and is very accustomed to a general home environment.

Annie thrives in a relatively active home and would do best where she isn’t left completely alone for long periods of time. She loves her people and could be an only dog provided she wasn’t left all day long and got chances to socialise with other dogs a few times a week. She would also slot excellently into an existing pack of dogs as she is so easy going and amiable. She is just assertive enough to make her own space, but is not dominant or pushy. Annie could do well in a home with children over the age of 10 who would play with her and teach her tricks. This girl is very flexible and has masses of potential for whoever adopts her and gives her that forever family she deserves.

~ Other Animals ~

Little Annie has good dog skills and is a social girl. She is perfectly behaved when meeting other dogs out on walks, and gets on well with the other dogs in her foster home. She can occasionally give a short growl to another dog, but there is never any true malice in it, it is her giving a heads up to a nearby dog that she doesn’t wish to be disturbed. She really is a no hassle kind of girl.

Annie lived with a cat in her previous home, so is suitable to live with a relatively confident cat provided initial introductions are done at a suitable pace. We have a behaviourist on hand to help you with this introduction if needed.

~ Out and About ~

Out on walks, Annie continues to be a model girl. She walks to heel, never pulls and is polite and social with everyone she meets. She is no bother at all, and a pleasure to bring around with you. She also enjoys going in the car and settles down immediately.

~ Greyhounds as Pets ~

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

~ Where Am I? ~

Annie is currently in a foster home in Norfolk, UK. She can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to us in Norfolk to meet her.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~

Annie is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

~~ KERRY GREYHOUNDS UK ~~

Kerry Greyhounds UK is a small voluntary organisation that is based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spaced over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).

We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK.

Our Website: http://www.kerrygreyhounds.co.uk

If interested in one of our hounds, please visit our website’s Adoption Page for information and instructions on our homing procedures. Once you have filled in and returned the application form, we will then contact you via phone or email to discuss adopting one of our hounds in more detail.

If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. I (Tam) can be contacted through the following email:
