Joshy is now just 5 months old and for the last two months or so we have had peaceful nights and no toilet accidents at all in the house, but for some reason the last two nights he has started to whimper at night and has started to revert back to doing a number one and yes even a number two indoors, which we were really shocked at.

Are we expecting too much of him to be clean at this age? he is still going through the day with no accidents and would probably go all night but when he is crying so much we are waiting for a break in the crying and letting him out and he does actually seem desparate to go! Should we be doing this????or just ignoring the crying?

Thankfully he doesn't seem to be having any effect on Harleys training, but we have just gone back to basics with both of them hoping it will pass, has anyone else gone through this or does anyone have any suggestions, just want to be sure we are doing everything right!!!

Have you changed the routine in any way ie have you increased his food or something which may make him want to empty more, also is he emptying properly at last time out, a few of mine have needed to go out in the early hours as they wont empty if its raining. At least he seems to be trying to tell you he needs to go out, i know this can sometimes be awkward but maybe he"ll settledown again soon. Good luck.

Would it be worth getting his urine checked at the Vet, just in case he has an infection. Otherwise it might be worth going out with him and making sure he empties properly before bed. it is getting colder so he might be rushing to go and get back in the warm. (w00t) Good luck, :luck:

My pup is just about 5 months and has been totally clean in the house since about 13 weeks but over last weekend (bonfire night X 3) she was very reluctant to go out at all cos of the noise and she did have a couple of wees and a poo inside. Luckily things have quietened down and she is back to normal now :D , I used a D.A.P. plug in and it really semed to calm her down. Hope your little one is o.k. soon.

Now as it gets darker earlier and it is colder maybe you let him out before bed earlier than you did in the summer? I would expect the odd accident from a young dog for a while yet. Just continue his training, maybe give him his evening meal earlier and let him out as late as possible before going to bed and make sure he actually does something!
