Blaze our 8year old whippet is a very poorly boy wewill be returning to the vets today. He is vommiting every time he eats no runny stools but very quiet a temperature. He is on antibiotics but no improvement we are worried any clues

Thanks

Tony

Get them to check whether he has pancreatitis. That can make them vomit when they eat and is a serious illness. Hopefully it will just be an infection that they need to find the right antibiotic for. Good luck with your lovely boy, I know how worrying these things are. :luck: :luck: :luck:

It could be oesophagitis - a lesion or something similar stops the food going down to the stomach. Treatment usually involves dilating the oesophagus and is quite often successful (although it was not for my greyhound). If he is running a temperature, it is usually an infection. Pancreatitis sounds more likely to me. Good luck and let us know how he gets on.

Our boxer bitch Moonpig :clown: has had a serious bout of pancreatitis recently.

An important thing to remember is to give small meals so that her pancreas will only be dealing with a small amount of food at a time and very low fat too.

Our girly will probably never be able to have fatty treats of any kind again and she is still having three small meals a day, six weeks or more after her pancreatitis, we tried to drop her to two normal meals but it flares up again and she vomits. I contacted Burns and they recommended Burns Organic or High Oats, both of which are extra low fat and she is enjoying these.

she stayed in the vets for a few days and was on a drip, basically to rest her pancreas and not even having water by mouth means that nothing causes her pancreas to have to work.....the pancreas can eventually start to digest itself in severe cases. Our dog had prescription food in tiny amounts for the first week back home but the first 24hrs back home she was only allowed water.

hope that helps a bit.
