my friend kieron who is a trainee dog warden is organising a dog awareness day and as hes never done anything like this before hes looking for help and ideas for entertainment for people taking part.he sent me this email below,so im hoping folk on here can come up with some ideas.he has no budget whatsoever so anything to do with money is out!any ideas anyone? :)

kris,

i am organising a dog awareness day on the 31st

of May at Sankey Valley park in Blackbrook st helens, merseyside, if you want to help me advertise

it amongst the doggy faithful. I am also looking for ideas as to

entertainment etc with out a budget. I was going to do a Sponsored Dog Walk

round Carr Mill Dam as part of it. I raised £200 last July for Dogs Trust

doing this. Also, I have the PDSA Petcheck coming again in their small van,

but, I need more ideas and they must be free to do as I have no budget :b

What about contacting local dog trainers or clubs such as agility, doggy dance etc to give demos? Free publicity for them and I'm sure they wouldn't mind doing it to help promote good responsible ownership.

Perhaps ask some local rescues if they would like to run stalls? They might also be keen to help organise the event.

Offer stalls to local businesses (pet shops etc). They could be asked to pay, so would generate some budget for the rest of the event.

Get someone along to demonstrate something like clicker training or T-touch?

Organise a couple of fun competitions (best child handler, prettiest eyes, waggiest tail)?

See if the Dogs Trust would attend to do cheap microchipping?

Advertise the event on some of the Dog Rescue forums - I'm sure people would come up with ideas and be keen to help.

some really good ideas there guys thanks for that ill pass this on to kieron.i think he did a dogs trust microchipping thing last time at the taylor park event.hed asked a club to do a demo but they wanted 250 quid!but he did say they were very good.ill send him these ideas and see what he decides to do.if he could raise some funds then perhaps next time he could use that to hire this dog training club to do a demo.cheers for that  :D
