Posting for a friend who is looking for a lurcher puppy, pref a bitch. She's really keen to find a beddy/whippet x.

She's an experienced lurcher owner, but took on an adult lurcher last year from rescue - sadly the dog was unpredictable with children, turned on her toddler and bit her, and my friend was devastated to have to return the dog to rescue.

Having previously always had rescues, she would now really like a puppy who can grow up being comfortable around children.

If anyone knows of any hairy longdog litters, please PM me and I'll pass on the info

get a copy of countrymans weekly, bed whippets advertised every week in there.

Excellent, thanks. I'll pass that on. Better not buy a copy myself or I'll end up with one too :- "

theres a litter of beddie/whipps due this week in cornwall

devonmaid - and others of you who know this cross - I was told at crufts that they "barely moult at all".... is that your experience?

Would you say they shed less than whippets?

I am allergic.... and wondering.

I think it is really quite variable, not all the pups from a first cross would have the non-shedding coat, if any. I've asked around with this in mind and quite a lot DO shed fur. Presumably they'd have to have the full, purled woolly coat of a full bedlington to be sure.

Found this site the other day:

Bedlington version of k9

This new method of reading posts is a bit disconcerting - I'm getting RSI!!

yes... maybe moriarte has put her finger on it.. maybe it is to do with first cross or further down the line.. and how much beddie there is in the mix.

A non moult whippet/beddie hasnt been invented yet, no matter how much I want it to have been...

Full Bedlies are nice too though. Here is Gelert's girlfriend Lottie (sadly nothing came of their affair). There is quite a whippety litte frame under all the curls actually.

yes, I think beddies are lovely. I was very very tempted by the idea of the beddie/whip that barely moults at all....

being allergic is very very frustrating, particularly as it seems so changeable according to the type of dog hair etc...

maybe I will try to borrow/foster a beddiexwhippet and see how it goes.
