im in the middle of a discussion on another site about blue irish staffys.now id always heard that blue irish staffys was a euphanism for pit bulls.but this guy reckons theyre a recognised breed and are worth thousands, also english blue staffys.does anyone here know anyhting about these?im not that well up on staffys so i dont know if hes right or wrong but i do know the kennel club only recognise staffordshire bull terriers.also are the blues worth thousands and can they be shown or is it a colour thats banned from showing.any help appreciated

We use to show Staffie. Yes, blue is a recognised colour in Staffie's and therefore can be shown. They do tend to be rare and people do charge more for them.

I too had heard that the term 'Irish Staffie' was a euthanism for Pitbull and it is apparently used in adverts in papers etc. People 'in the know' who are after a pitbull know what the term means. Obviously you wouldn't advertise a litter as pitbull for obvious reasons! this is a way of getting round it. As we know, people can get 100's for pitbulls.

As far as the KC is concerned, 'Irish Staffies' do not exist - they are not a recognised breed. Only Staffordshire Bull Terriers.

know i was whatching something on telly a couple of nights ago about the dog amnasty in liverpool and one woman did realsie she has a pit bull becoues she bout it as an irish staffy. she had to go to coutr it was a pitbull now she has to have it castrated microchiped and on lead and muzzled. but thats the only time I have hard of them

Yes, sadly 'Irish Staffie' has come to mean Pit Bull in some circles. Pit Bulls aren't banned in Ireland and can be bought quite openly there.

It's quite confusing though, because (I'm told by a staffie-knowledgeable friend), there is a recognised Irish strain of staffie which is longer in the leg and less chunky than English staffies - not breed standard, but popular as pets and definitely nothing like Pit Bulls, so Irish Staffie could mean what it says.

well this man says his dogs longer in the leg than a normal staffy and i think pit bulls are too arent they?he says he has a staffy and an irish blue staffy.he also said theyre so soft hed leave his grandchildren alone with them!at that point i called him an irresponsible owner!

this discussion has become somewhat heated now.a new member has just joined our site and started to post lots of stuff that bears repeating.( i did say to him that it was amazing that hed just joined the site and just happened to see this thread and just happened to know the two guys with the american bulldogs/staffys that were arrested under the dangerous dogs act that we were discussing!) coincidence or what? :- " anyway heres his reply to me,what do you think guys?are we all prostituting our dogs? (w00t)

ok kris lets get one thing straight, i did not claim to have stumbled across this forum i am neither stupid nor a liar and never assumed people would believe anything of the sort.Lets get two things straight actually, i also clearly stated that i did not know these men or their dogs i simply stated that i knew of them, just as you do_Of course any normal person finds dog fighting abhorrent and disgusting i think the people you are throwing insults at are obviously intelligent enough to learn about whole subjects and not just the bits that appeal, if you are choosing a breed with a reputation then it is wise to find out if this dog is considered a fighting machine and it is perfectly possible to research a subject without condoning or gloryfying it, if you have the mental ability that is,so now for the things that i hate too.I hate people who breed dogs for PROFIT over and over again. How dare you force a dog to travel accross the world in a cage and force it to have sex when you say so with whatever dog you say, just so you can POFIT,oh yes and how do you maxamise that PROFIT ? by breeding as many champions and award winners as you can which you then SELL to people who want them as proof of their wealth, incedently there are thousands of mongrels needing homes because they are overlooked in favour of pedigree dogs that are farmed by greedy people like you for PROFIT.What does your daughter do with her whippets ? starve them into chasing a fake rabbit around a track for PROFIT?So tear yourself away from dog fornicating for a minute go back to what i posted and see just how presumptious and assuming you are, oh and please feel free to admit that your speedy response was based on not reading thoroughly what is in front of you,but it is well known that people who spend too much time around animal prostitution can become confused so maybe i will forgive you, oh yes i have 3 rescue dogs who cost me a fortune and will never earn me a penny of PROFIT.......... (w00t)

i havent dignified this tripe with a reply yet,............. but rest assured i will! o:)
