Hi folks,

Does anyone remember the dark old ages of the 70'sand 80's. Can you remember the dog Black maria and another Maria, Black fox and haymaker. was you around when Doncaster race stadium was running , and also Askern Stadium. I just wanted to see if anyone out there has been in the breed long enough to remeber us. Mike and Dina Charlton. If you do it would be nice to hear fromyou. My brother in law has recently ceased racing his name is Sid Hunt and owned Gillette amonst other dogs.

Regards

Mike

I can answer yes to all of the questions asked i think - as for Sid and Gillette have two pups out of Gillette now 13 months old - so yep remember them well lol.

I remember the dogs we raced Whole Lotta Rosie and Hunky Dora back in the 80,s

I won an open at doncaster with Viv's Choice who i also mated to Haymaker, the lad who owned him said it was his 96TH mating all the pups made open class.I remember Mick Clark racing Gilette at many of the bend tracks.

Another with 2 Gillette pups

Actually Mike, did you have Gillette at stud on your website at some point

Did Mick Clark own Gilette at one time then.

Hell Vicky and all,

yep i still have him on my site, Sid is my Brother in law, and the dog was owned by his son. As I understand it the dog was on loan to this Mick for a while but when Craig wanted him back he had to pay for his keep. Gillette is still alive and well so if anyone wants to use him be quick as he is getting on now and his time is limited.

I was the track manager at Doncaster, Askern , Dillington, Arthorpe and was the BWRA rep for some time. It was I that introduced Sid to racing. I used to take him along with me and let him hold Black Maria at the side of the track. When the rag went the dog allways bit Sid's leg. lol. No matter how hard hetried to stop him he always got him. I never stopped laughing I swere. Those were the days.

Mike
