While I'm on my high horse - well rocking horse - LOL - I am going to mention another topic - well its a wet evening and nothing else to do

Lord Byron and Spring Classic Week-end. Firstly the Spring Classic event was advertised on the inside front cover of the March WN to be on 4th April coupled with ther Grasscutter and IBM week-end which was held at Asfordby. The Lord Byron must at this date been a one day only event, somewhere in the north.

Next a few days before the event the Spring Classic was advertised on the back page of the April WN for the first week-end in May coupled with the Lord Byron and yet another week-end of racing at Asfordby.

Whilst this was going on and in fact wel before Sheila Webb had organised her week-end at Thurrock for the first week-end in May. Two of the BWRA top table had offered to help at this Thurrock week-end, therefore could not alter their plans for a last minute change of dates for the BWRA week-end at Asfordby.

Perhaps this last minute change of plans was why last week-end at Asfordby was such a disaster and resulted in us losing Paul. Some I hear have blamed those two BWRA top table members who were noty attendint the ASfordby week-end. Perhaps this will clarify why they did not attend.

The whole thing was ridiculous with folk rushing up and down the motorway trying to race at both events. Talk about having less opens.

Rocky get your facts right before you post, Do you read your whippet news ????

Asfordby open date was sent at the clubs a.g.m

As for the rest everyone else seems to know what was going on , Chris can only print what she is given.

Talk about kick someone when there down.

You dont have a clue do you

I would like to set the matter straight right away. I meant no disrespect to Paul and Chris over what I said earlier. In fact I was trying to work out why we had lost a valuable worker like Paul. I have known him over 20 years and wondered why he had resigned and thought it was because he had lack of support over this week end. I do read my whippet news, in fact I cannot get around so follow everything from the computer and reading. It seemed other members did not help him on this week-end and I thought having the two week-ends on the same was the reason. The large adverts were changed regarding the spring classic and I certainly didn't blame Chris for this. In fact a pinned topic came up just before the eventual spring classic stating the change of date.

I have the highest regard for Paul and Chris and realise what a blow his leaving will be for the whippet world. Sorrys if my facts were wrong.

I HAVE JUST HAD A PHONE call from Doreen Hopkins who asked if I would post this on her behalf.

Doreen says

Yes the date for the Lord Byrone was set at the B.W.R.A a.g.m in nov 03.

But at the time there was no venue. Doreen has never attented this open at Seaham due to the distance.

The committee were informed Seaham could not be used and at the Tyrone open

a new venue had to be found quickly in order to inform everyone.

Doreen would have been at Asfordby for the Lord Byrone if she had not already made other arrangments thinking this open would be at Seaham .. to far for her to travall.

:b SO WHY WAS THIS OPEN NOT OFFERED TO A NORTH EAST CLUB ?? I'M SURE THE BWRA SECRETARY COULD HAVE PHONED AROUND THE NORTH EAST CLUB SECRETARY, WHEN THE REST OF THE COMMITTEE WAS AT THE TYRONE, TO ASK IF ONE OF THE CLUBS WOULD LIKE THIS EVENT,

JUST CANT HELP YOURSELF CAN YOU , PHONE JOHN AND ASK :clown:

the lord byron open was a dawdon open and was offered this by seaham council but the comittee thoght this to big for them.

so they invited the murton comittee to help they all decided that this open was to big for them to handle i think this was, because the large amount of sponsorship to start this open off so they invited the bwra in .

so this open should be handed back to dawdon with trophy, seem's when the sponsorship money went so did the bwra.

:b SO WAS DAWDON OFFERED THE BYRON BEFORE IT WENT TO ASFORDBY,
