It is with much sadness and still with tears that I post that Steve and Sue lost their young girl, Storm, on Monday in very tragic circumstances.
Following winning Best Gait at the Specialty, Storm was admitted to a vet on Sunday morning. On Monday, Sue had to go to the Royal for a judging appointment and those near her would have been aware of the phone call advising Storm had bone missing when being collected from the vet. A missing dog with a severe illness had everyone on the lookout. It's a long story and everyone involved is beating themselves up with 'if only' and 'we should have', but the fact remains she's gone.
Storm was a daughter of our Charm and Jen & Molly's Darcy. She was 3 points short of her title and and although young, had had an admirable show career but above all, she was a sweet and loving whippet and had spent much of Saturday night in my husbands arms.
Steve and Sue initially asked us not to tell people, but concerned friends have been ringing and there were enquiries whilst we were at the Royal for RR judging yesterday.
Steve and Sue were devastated by the loss and like all who experience such a tragic loss, have said that's it, never again. Through my tears I have urged them to breed again and in some weird sign, Storm's dam, Charm, came into season early than expected on Tuesday.
The tears will be flowing for some time.
