Hi everyone  We are entered in the BSFA May meeting in the Newbury area. In view of the KC problem, has anyone heard of any possible cancellation or any news of postponement? I have checked the website which states the meeting is to go ahead but news of KC from that area and beyond is not encouraging. Any news, please tell. Thanks

Isn't there a vaccination/nasal immunisation for kennel cough?

Is it correct that a dog can still catch KC even when its been vaccinated against it because there is so many KC viruses and each KC vaccine only guards you against one of them...please correct me if im wrong

No thats exactly what my vet told me and is why he refuses to administer the drops as he feels it give owners a false sense of security.

I've used the nasal vaccination against KC for years and never had a dog with KC.

Maybe I'm just lucky, I don't know.

In the USA the usual vaccinations don't have to be done by a vet and you can mail order vaccines and do your own for a fraction of the cost of a vet doing them. The exception being rabies which must be administered by a vet and a certificate issued. For about two dollars you can add the KC vaccine and as I don't think it does any harm it seems silly not to do it. The nasal vaccine doesn't cost much either and is supposed to be more effective. I have gone to 18 months for regular vaccines and three shots three weeks apart for pups.

Rabies is every three years.

I never did understand why it is neccessary to have to get a vet to give a simple vaccine shot in the UK.
