A few of us K9ers went to Bakewell show yesterday :huggles:

All week I been worrying about it being too hot for the dogs  thats a joke , it was WET , windy and at times Bl**DY freezing (w00t)

We started off in the wet weather tent for the breed judging :( , Judge Jan Friers

Linda was 3rd with Meadow in Puppy , India won Junior, Dawn was 3rd in Post Grad with Cleena , In Open I was 3rd with Fleur  and Debbie( Alfyn ) was 4th with Poppy and Dawn was 5th with Cleenas mum

After the breed judging we all went for a walk around the show , with ,from what Dawn tells me Debbie bartaring for all mannner of goods .

I , as usual bought a plant :- "

By the time we got back they had just started on the Stakes classes £££££

India won Junior Stakes ( out of 27 entered ) £15.00 and Debs with Poppy won the Open Stakes £15..00 and thats the 3rd year running Debs has won that 8) , My Mollee was 4th in Veteran Stakes., £5.00 and for a bit of a laugh , and the reason Id entered Fleur in the first place  Fleur and her daughter India were 3rd in the Brace £6.00

So for a change we made a profit  ,but what a shame about the weather , lets hope it at least stays dry for the hound show :luck:

Hmmmm, a more devious mind o:) might suggest something untoward here ;)

Just checked BBC weather and Stafford on Saturday is (apparently) full sunshine - lets hope for a few white clouds too :luck:

It was nice to meet you and Alfyn at the show yesterday Jax. It was lovely to see everyone's whippies too. There were a couple there that I would like to have brought home with me :- " :- "

Well done all.

I was there (see thread on whippets page), but hung back  because the tent was soo small and cramped, and many of the handlers were getting annoyed and stressed with the poor conditions. There was barely anough room for those showing. It was freezing wasn't it.....I had to go back to the car and get my thermos of hot tea out and try and warm up a bit

Still Jan looked very unphased by it all, and got stuck in. She did make me giggle having to dodge those marquee poles in the ring. :- " :p The Afghans in the ring next door kept peeing up theirs, and once one started they all kept trying to have a sniff as they were running round

Are you sure it was just the one plant Jax? :- "

Nice to meet you too Kath  Err,i got the feeling that Poppy was one of the whippet's you wanted to take home?Sorry, but NO CANCE!!! :D

Yes,i had a good day's bartaring,& got a few good deals for Dawn & Linda too :thumbsup:But,as usual at this show,i spent far too much money on doggie things (w00t)

It was such a shame about the weather,i know we desperately need some rain, but it could have waited for another day!

In the afternoon,we were right up the far end of the showground when it absolutely threw it down,we had to get back for the open stakes,& by the time we got back to the rings,Poppy was drenched & I only had a few minutes to towel dry her before she went in the ring.

I really thought she'd have no chance of winning it as we both looked a right bedraggled pair :b

Well done to everyone who did well

Congrats to all on your nice wins. I think they should re-name the Open Stakes to "The Oh Bl***y H**l Here She Is Again Stakes".

Dylan says Poppy is the bestest mummy in the whole wide world and so beautiful.

Jenny

Well Done everyone  :huggles:
