Ballywalter Game & Country Living Fair on 30th April/1st MayTerrier & Lurcher Show and Racing on Sunday 1st May starting 1.00pm. Come early as there is the largest number of trade stands ever at Ballywalter and plenty of other entertainment.

This events ( along with John Dicker's Kilkenny Show on the same day) kick off the two qualifiers for Ireland's big international lurcher championships this year - the Redmills Master McGrath Racing Challenge - Final at Shanes Castle 25th June and the Redmills Five Nations International Lurcher Championships - Final at Birr Castle 28th August. So on the 1st of May anyone with a lurcher in Ireland has a chance to qualify it for one of these championships without travelling too far from home.

The Champion Lurcher qualifies for the Redmills Five Nations International Lurcher Final at Birr Castle on the 28th August (and some travel expenses payable at Birr) and also receives four tickets to the Birr Castle Fair and a year's subscription to Irish Countrysports and Country Life magazine. The Prize fund for the winner of this prestigious final will top €1,000.

1st PLACED OVER 23” LURCHER £20 +Trophy

Both qualify for the Final of the REDMIILS Master Mc Grath Challenge at Shanes Castle again with a prize fund for the winner in excess of €1,000. Please note that this racing final is completely separate to the All Ireland Terrier & Lurcher Racing Championships which as usual will also be run at Shanes Castle. So competitors can compete for two tiles.

Top under 23” lurcher will race against the top over 23” lurcher for BALLYWALTER RACING CHAMPION. The winner at Ballywalter receives £50, a tankard, four tickets to Shanes Castle, a years subscription to the Irish Countrysports and Country Life magazine and the winner and runner up receive a specially commissioned qualifying scroll designed by Ingrid Houwers and a limited edition Master Mc Grath Qualifiers Cap
