Woke up this morning, with a hell of a sore foot, after landing quite heavy on a big stone yesterday, when i was attending a call of nature, and ecided to jump down from the top of a 5bar gate.Decided not to go,and changed my mind a few times. Before getting everyone up out of bed,and setting off on an almost 3 hour drive.Owing to a stupid sat nav, gone wrong, lol.Or was it just, that old age thing again. We didnt arrive till after 3pm.So missed almost the whole showing part.Took Reni along, for another wee fitness run.But Danny looked a bit stiff, this morning, and as i dont like running a dog,who dont seem 100percent right. Then he was left at home.Shadow,on the other hand.Seemed just her hyper self.So she came along,to make up the numbers, along with The wee black bitch,,(who is no longer wee, lol)and Kirsty's blade pup,who was having his 1st outing in a trailer, and also, his 1st experience,of stange dogs, and strange people. The whippet racing heats finished, and it was onto the unders heats. In Shadows heat, her 3 runs from yesterday, seemed to have taken their toll, and Collins wee Whiskey dog, just left them for stopped. As he hammered up what looked a very short racecourse.Compared to yesterday's racing.I think it was about 150 yrds.As they passed me.He must have been about 6 lengths clear, and try as she did.Shadow could only get to within about 3 lengths of him,at the line.As the photo's will show.he wasnt given any help.By a white hairy dog. That seemed to want to trample her to the ground or summit. But instead, just opted for a piece of her back.Thanx to the muzzle he was wearing,al he got,was a tooth full of her racing jacket. She did eventualy get clear though. But there was no catching Whiskey.Who was well gone.Job done and dusted. She did qualify in 2nd place though.Which was something, anyway. With the stiffness now gone, from yesterday.I was hopng for a better run,in the final. But holding not much hope, after all the running she did yesterday. Then it was the overs, and Reni's heat, that i was interested in.With her being laid up,in season for the longest period of time ive evr witnessed a bitch to be in season for.I didnt hold out much hope for her, against Ian's big blue dog,Smokey.I was somewhat surprised. To see her finishing just a length n a half,or 2 lengths from him.But all i wanted was a good clean injury free run. That would keep her keen, and help her fitness program, thats just started yesterday. If 2nd place had qualified her for the final.I would have withdrew her, anyhow. As she's thin enough,at the minute.Heats all over, and it was time for the whippet final.Again,Eddie and Lizz took 1st n 2nd.In the unders final,i dont know exactly what went on at the start. But about 50 yards into the race. There seemed to be only 2 that counted.Whiskey, was coming up the field in front, and with a now clear run.It seemed the writing was again on the wall. But Shadow must have lost that stiffness, and was coming home pretty strong.I never for once, thought that after yesterday, and over 1000 yards of uphill racing. She would have this much energy left in the tank.As she drew level with Whiskey,i thought ,no way girl. You cant surely be doing that. But she was,and with a couple more strides, she went in front, and just kept her head down. She won by about a length n a half, and gave me a great feeling in whats left of the old ticker. So in 4 short months, since she totaly refused to take any interest, whatsoever,in a lure. She has now put 2 great wins together, and took her 1st and 2nd racing titles.Back to back.In her 1st ever 2 races.Guess all the hard work, and 6am rises,to get dogs done.Is finaly begining to pay off.If she never wins another race. She has gone from a suspect dudd, and wanting a pet home only.To earning her keep, and hopefully,a permanent place,in our new kennels. When we move, next month. As i was still in shock, and talking about what she had just pulled off.I stupidly missed the overs final, with the camera. But turned,as i heard the cheering. To see the old timer,Colt.Take the final,by about 3/4 of a lenth. From Ians Smokey. It seemed another good tight run, between old rivals.Another one over, and a somewhat keener Shadow.Who's jast made Alannah's weekend for her,and left her going back to her mums house.A very happy wee girl, indeed.Just wish Danny would have been fit to run also.U never know.Might have pulled off another back to back double, and made Kirsty's day, too, lol.Think she was happy enough though. She puts a lot of work into the dogs, and it's nice to see it paying off,for her. Just hope every dog raced today and yesterday.Did so,with an injury free day. 3 weeks till the next one now.So after a well earned rest,of 5/6 days. Its all systems go again.Gives us a bit of time to get summit done with Reni now,i guess.Well done to everyone, who won,or got places in the showing and racing today, and thanx again to Seamus and Matt. For a well run show.Even i missed the 1st 10 classes, lol. Better late than never. See you all in 3 weeks time folks. Thats if the big boss, dont come lookin for me,and tellin me,my times up,haha. Will get all the racing photo's on,soon as i can folks. As i'll be very buisy getting all me furniture,n bits n pieces moved, tey the new little house,on the prearie. Take care folks, and as big Jacko, always says.God bless. 2
