she is still limping :( if it is a muscle problem how long will it take to heal ?

It seems to be her sholder more than her leg or paw

Did the vet check her shoulder Kim?, it will probably need a bit of time to settle down if your not happy though I'd nip back to the vet

I haven't read your original post with the outcome of when you went to the vet but if you haven't already i'd go and see a good greyhound vet

Is there any in Bristol or close by?

I did visit the vet on sat and she seems to think it is a muscle strain and to bring her back on Mon if she hadnt got any better and she said she would do xrays under anastetic (sp) :(

Why do you need to have anestetic(sp) won't the vet just let you hold her still,

I've never had this before advice please knowing people :D Is anesthic necessary?

I wouldn't think knocking her out would be necessary (I can't spell anaesthetic) - it could be dangerous, maybe a light sedative if she was really wriggly?

I can't even spell it wrongly the same way twice :b

Personally I wouldn't be happy with them using an anaesthetic on a puppy as young as this unless absolutely neccessary! :(

There is a good Greyhound vet at Swindon stadium. Here is his number

My vet does the greyhounds at the Oxford track, his name is Mr Bartholomew, he is excellent sorted a really bad problem with Tess and very gentle with dogs (though a little less gentle with owners). I really couldn't recommend him more highly.

His phone number is - 01865 242600. You could just give him a call and see what he says.

If you did come to him, you could come and see Esme (and the gang), we could take them for a walk together.

Perhaps it is the money issue? like they can charge for a anaesthetic

I will give those numbers a ring and see what they say..

Thank you for all your pm's makes me feel much better :huggles:

I will keep you updated

Kim

I would not rush in to having x-rays and anaesthetics but give it a chance to heal, these things do not get better overnight!! If she has strained a shoulder muscle I would think you will be looking at at least a week for it to heal and longer if you do not rest her.
