Had my girl out in the beating line saturday. She had an ok day flushed birds well, used her nose well and was brave in some very thick cover in places. Anyway a very nice day on a mixed rough/driven shoot; bag was good at 67birds about 15 more than normal.

A few misdemeanours as you would expect from a non-gundog in a wood stuffed with loads of wild life but generally cant complain. One frustration remains that she will not retrieve feather but she will run in and stop any runner and stand over shot birds. Any advice will be greatfully recieved on sorting the feather thing (fur not a problem).

Sounds like you had a good day !get some pheasant wings salt them dry them out and tie them to a dummy then start with some simple retrieves and progress from there :thumbsup:

What a beautiful lurcher you have :thumbsup: - is she a Smithfield lurcher? :blink: (hope Ive got that name right I cant find the book to check so could be quite wrong :b :- " )

shes a norfolk bred lurcher/lurcher x shes often reffered to as smithfeild looking but the rest of the litter are broken rather than rough coated and and her half brother is a smooth coat.
