I Am very sad that I have found myself in the position that I have to re-home my beautiful 1 yr old miniature pintcher and don't want to sell him but want to find him the best possible home. I am no expert on these dogs, or any dog. but from what I have seen and read of them
He has the typical characteristics. Playful, Outgoing, Energetic, Responsive, Clever.

I have a two your old son whom he is great with. He is loving and dose basic commands and is house trained. But he is one track minded when taken for a walk. suggest spading him. he is not very well socialised. but think he will be great if taken to training and meeting lots of people and dogs. He is nervous of people and doesn't like them to spring down on him to stroke him but left to his devices he wants to investigate them and eventually gets used to a person. He spends much time alone so sees not many people or dogs.

unfortunately I have battled with the decision to re home him, as I am a single parent who is returning to work this summer and he is already spending to much time alone. Think he would benefit from having a home with a garden as I don't have one so the only exercise he gets is when I walk him on the flexie lead. and I feel that he gets frustrated.

I would very much like to keep in touch with his new owners if possible.

pictures below. If you want any better standing shots I can take some for you.

we are in the Essex area

As much as a difficult decision that it is, I think that this little man needs to be rehomed through a rescue, as they will have the best resources available to make sure he goes to a good home. On a forum like this it is very easy for him to be taken into the wrong hands and I am sure you'd want best for him. I am not saying the people on this forum are un-trustworthy I just think it best for both you and the person adopting this little chap if it's done officially through a rescue.

What part of Essex are you located? Perhaps we can suggest a few places you could take him to?

He is gorgeous  And what a sad descision to have to make, I hope you manage to find a good home. I would definately agree with Cadac to be very careful who he goes to. Please dont offer him free to a good home. Someone who wants him should have enough money to pay something for him (or how else will they afford to feed him and pay vets bills?) If you dont wwant to take money for him yourself you could ask for a donation to a charity of your choice as an adoption fee, instead.

Have you contacted miniature pinscher rescue? http://www.miniaturepinscherrescue.co.uk/file/Welcome.html I'm sure they could help you- most rescues will work with the owner in situations like yours so you have a choice in where he goes and will be kept up to date with his progress.

Thank you cadac 21.

much appreciate your wise advice. I had already contacted the min pin rescue for the reasons you state. but cant take him for a period of time. I would not just let him go to anyone, was thinking if I put add out too I can vet people. but I agree it is much safer through the rescue centres waiting to hear back from them. I will be making sure this lovely young boy will be getting the best home I could possible find for him.

I don't do much on these forums so thank you again for your helpful advice.

and pippy whippet that is a good idea! I never thought of that. donation to charity is a great idea. Thank you too.

Has this dog been rehomed yet please?

Closing this due to a lack of response from the poster.
