is there any advantage to a Bedlington x Whippet over a pure bred whippet,

for general mooching.

No, theres lot of nonsense talked about pure whipps being thin skinned but my experience is they will all tear given the same circumstances plus there no gaurentees that i wxb will be broken coated, i would go for a pure whippet everytime i may be biased as i have 1 pup still not homed :- "

hi joe, welcome to the forum,my dad had a working whippet which was one of the keenest dogs ive ever seen, absolute demon on foxes(pre ban)must admit his skin used to tear quite bad though if he got bit or hit barbed wire.i had a working bedlington which was a pleasure to watch bushing,go through anything.also mad on foxes, also had first crosses which i have a soft spot for which ive never known to come out smooth myself.you wont get a much better general purpose rabbiting dog than a beddy/whippet

i was a breeder years ago of Bedlington X Whippets, my dogs were well known,

But i never worked a pure whippet.

All the litters of first crosses i bred, i never turned out a smooth coated pup.
