I have a lovely little whippet bitch from good working stock and want to put her to a blue bedlington but I can't find a nice dog here in the South or South West. Does anyone know a good dog? Thanks

I have been involved with beddy crosses for years, the last thing I would be interested in is colour,Do you work your bitch in any way?Do you want the stud dog to be a proven worker?
What is your aim in breeding a litter?
what do you hope to produce?
Have you got homes lined up for them (working or pet homes)?
I'm not trying to be funny with you but there are loads of puppies born every day that need new homes already and only good dogs should be bred from if you intend to produce good dogs for a certain role such as workers where both parents should have proved themselves before being considered good enough to reproduce )

Answers in order to your queries:
No, she had a broken toe but comes from a long line of workers
Not essential; just a good strain not a show dog, I have yet to meet a bedlington that wasn't keen and mix it up with a whippet and the progeny should be capable.
Some fun, gain a small replacement from a known line, and provide two friends with puppies (one working, one house pet)
Puppies! Seriously - some small hairy lurchers.
And three are already spoken for....... and not even conceived.
I am an experienced dog and lurcher owner and I am aware that lots of pups are being born unnecessarily. However, A good working strain of small lurcher will always be treasured as a friend and a house dog so long as the breeder chooses the new homes carefully. Have you ever tried to find a bedlington x whippet puppy? Not easy.
As to colour - A blue bedlington on a fawn blue brindled bitch should throw up dark blue/grey broken coated lurchers. I don't particularly want white pups that stand out at night! However, you takes your chances and gets what you get - but if you can stack the odds in your favour so much the better! And yes, a proven dog would be nice. However, there don't appear to be many beddys about in the south / southwest. As to size my whippet is quite tiny, about 18 inches, so most beddys will be a bit smaller - don't want anything too small though.
Thanks for support but still no luck - yet - with finding the right dog....Best of luck Vedeco  Makes a change to get someone who knows what they're doing and why, very good answers. ATB
Someone put photos up of a cracken looking Beddy that works, would do the job, they said the dog was near you, and he is Blue. You posted the same request on THL and there's offers of studs there mate
