Hello everyone.

I am interested in racing my lurcher, Mabel, and wondered what advice you have for getting started and training.

So far we have just done a trial at the s. cotswold whippet racing club. She was a natural and went crazy for the lure. We are going back again to do a timed trial but I'm wondering what's next and how/where I go to actually race her.

So far her 'training' has been limited to chasing anything she sees that moves. She is pretty fast and very committed although it is a bit heart stopping watching her chase a deer for a mile, blind to any obstacle!

I'd really appreciate any advise. Many thanks.

Thank you. I took her to the race club again and she did a time trial, then raced against her house mate Dan the greyhound. She got the second fastest time and was so up for it.

I didn't realise they did racing at the gamefairs. Do you have to enter in advance or can you just rock up on the day? I have only got one experience of 'showing' Mabel at a Lurcherworld show. It wasn't very fun and she kept flopping on the ground, bored. That made two of us!

Thanks again for your reply
