Irish music festival Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann (you can just say "the Flah) is in nearby Tullamore. I think about half hour drive to Birr, traffic permitting. They have a serviced secure campsite for tents from Thurs - Mon night, 30Euro/person no matter how few/many nights you stay. No booking, first come first served. Don't know what the dog policy is. There is a separate site for caravans, should be info on that at fleadh website

I think the ground must be very sodden now!

There really is a lot on for the coming week. If you are making a holiday of it, look at http://www.heritageweek.ie/ - some of the events take place in & near Birr - surprised the Game fair isn't listed as a heritage even
