A friend and I have been discussing the height of whippet bitches. Whilst the standard is currently 17.5"- 18.5" I know that at one point the breed council was looking at an upper size of 19" when it was revising/reviewing the standard a couple of years back.

Can someone tell me when the standard was changed from 17"-18.5"- how long ago was this?

What was the thinking in allowing dogs a 1.5" variation and the bitches only a 1" variation?

Any info would be appreciated.

The standard was not changed for bitches we have been covering this in another post. The dogs were changed and we did want t5he bitch height to correspond but the kennel club would not have it. It is a pity as there are not many bitches in the ring under 19ins
