my cleo is just starting her second season at the tender age of 12 months and 12 days, she started her first season on 12 august . looks like im in for some pain with archie trying to get his leg over every minute. :(

4 months isn't very long is it :(

I'd be inclined to get her checked out by your vet if she only goes a short gap between her next season, a friends old dog started like that and it turned out she had cysts on her ovaries. In saying that it could just be the fact she's eased up with it coming winter, mine tend to come in when they're not up to much race wise.

Good luck with Arch :D

I'd agree with Vicky ..... 4 months is a very short time for a Whippet .......... :luck: with Archie anyway (w00t)

thanks for that, i couldnt believe it when i saw her spotting.

Good luck Tony (w00t) you're going to need eyes in the back of you head for the next few weeks I think :sweating:

She must be taking Lucy"s turn she hasnt come in at all yet, the only one in the litter not to have had a season.

she's a randy little bugger. at the mo she is attempting to bite archies head off, in a week or so her tail will be twitching tempting him in. he's walking around drooling from more than one place. 'nightmare situation'

Paula, Mysti still hasn't had her first season yet either, and her birthday is 4 days after Taschas. I'm kinda glad, cos it's a nightmare when they do have a season.

LOL ....I must admit my lot are always over a year old befor they come in (just thought this was normal  ) ......As a matter of fact I was gobsmacked when my 1 came in at a year old :b

I have heard lately from several people who's Whippets have been having strange seasons. Maybe something to do with the weird weather we have been having this year. I do not know about other breeds, my friends have mainly Whippets or desexed pets.

My Callista is 22 month old and hasn't been in season as yet. All her relatives came at about 14 months. However, I can see her getting ready now, she is just waiting for my friends with their 3 Whippets to arrive for Xmas. (w00t) :D

Callie and Sienna came in season at 10 and 11 months but Spry at 9 months I was gutted because she seemed too young and I thought it might take her puppiness away but no she sailed through it as though nothing was happening (pretty much like she does with everything  ).

Now I'm waiting for the next one with the girls is their an average between 1st and 2nd season and seasons, after that do they become regular so to speak

Most bitch's have their 1st season between 12-18 months.

it can take 2 or 3 seasons for a bitch to settle into a regular cycle (but most are regular straight away)

ours normaly come in at 16-18 months but theres always an exception.

What is regular mark is like every 6 months for instance or is different for all

The "Normal" is every 6 months but many bitch's come in anything between 5-10 months.

some bitch's go as long 12 months between season and i've heard of bitch's that have gone 18 months between seasons.

No 2 bitch's are the same and they will all find their own paterns.

So really it could be a few years before you'd find out then (w00t)

Lesley,

Bitch's normaly follow the same season patern as their mothers so if you want a good idea (but not infalible) you could ask what a bitch's mothers seasonal patern was.

Thanks Mark I don't really have contact with the twins breeder but I'll ask Chris about Moss, I suppose it's not as important if you don't have mixed sexes but it's nice to have an idea of who when sort of thing, especially if they mix a lot with others like at racing ect

Lesley, have you been on the xmas sherry already :p ?

especially if they mix a lot with others like at racing ect
there not ready to be mated till around day 10-18 ("Normal" is 11-14)

So i'm sure you'll spot blood and notice a massive increase in the size of their backends before their ready to be mated.

Paula checks all our bitch's every morning when she lets them out (only takes 2 seconds)

The youngest we had in was 9 months, we thought it was due to her being on the small side, Kerry didnt come in season till she was 22 months. We have bitches that come in 6,8 & 12 months, we have never had bitches bring each other into season like quite a lot of people we know who keep 2 or more bitches.

Ahhhh! I have all this fun yet to come   My last bitch didn't discharge/bleed at all but her behaviour changed, she would be come very emotional and needy for the week before the swelling started.
