Advice Please -

Im wondering if my 8 month old border collie has come into season ?

We are new dog onwers.

Symptoms we thought we may see blood ? ( not seen any ), but in the last 2 days she is displaying signs of different behaviour in terms of not obeying usual commands, clinging and off food she usually loves, also not as well behaved on walks and generally not herself in the house.

Outside in the garden ' squatting' in an unusual position ( not usual ones ) - on inspection cannot see anything.

She just looks at times generally sad, and is also more affectionate than normal.

Any useful advice please ?

Yes it is perfectly possible that she is coming into season. Try putting a white sheet where she normally lays. You might see the odd drip of blood then. Some bitches are very clean and so do not show much bleeding.

Of course something else may be going on, such as a urine infection, so if you don't see blood or a swelling of the vulva soon then do take her to the vet for a check up.

Do remember, also , that bitches will try to escape when they are ready to mate so do make sure the house and garden are extra secure :)
