I was at the Derby yesterday and was asked by a few oeople if the Blidworth Open on the Saturday had been cancelled due the club being closed for the cough

at no point as the club been closed for the cough

and Saturdays open is still on

hope those that attend have a good time

meals are available at the pub

and very nice too

see you all there

Don

The club has never been closed because of the cough, all members who's dogs have had the cough have kept their dogs and themselves away.

The open this Saturday is on.

Ourselves and others have had cough with their dogs, nobody knew about our dogs having it until today nearly three weeks after contracting it.

The dogs had their first romp out yesterday, no coughs, chokes, splutters or sneezes. Needless to say if they were not clear we would not have travelled up (minus dogs) to watch the Anoso Open.

Looking forward to being back at the club this Wednesday night though will sadly miss the open due to the sound of Wedding Bells :( .

Advert for format etc. for you who can't be bothered to check your whippet news.

Weather forecast is for wall to wall sunshine with a high of 20c, plenty of food and drink available, ladies and gents toilets open all day, come and enjoy a good days racing with like minded people.

Please Note, Any person who attends this open will not be allowed to take part if their dogs coughs for whatever reason, his or hers color is tight or i have just pulled his lead on the dog will not surfice as an excuse.

We fully know that you may not be responsible for the outbreak but the Blidworth committee will not allow known infected dogs to take part and pass this last coughing outbreak on, even if it means a smaller attendance than normal at its meeting. So please do yourself a favour and dont bring an infected dog, thankyou.

The Blidworth Committee.

That's abit extreme John, and excludes me from coming to your race meeting ie one of my dogs always coughs when it pulls on the lead, and when it is being weighed. Even if you rub it's throat it coughs and it's done this from an early age.

Even my vet is baffled  :(

Edee does the same geoff , my vet said its cause she is short necked advised me to buy her a harness

Probably does appear to be a bit extreme Geoff --

But even having to be asking those who know they have the cough in their kennels is just not enough---

As you well know you will always get those who don't give a toss if they pass it on to others --

They just turn up as usual without a thought for anyone else's dogs ---

If this is what it takes so be it --

I for one am glad that there are those who will make a stand and make common sense compulsory the Blidworth club should be applauded for being responsible in taking this stance pity others don't take a leaf out of their book and do it ---

We will all benefit from this decision I am sure ---hope they have had a good days racing sorry i could not be there--

steve

was a great days racing and have to say i never heard any dogs cough today.
